Terri Irwin Pays a Touching Tribute to Late Husband Steve, and We Can’t Hold Back the Tears

Steve Irwin and Terri Irwin are known for their series of documentaries The Crocodile Hunter, which is also Steve’s nickname. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2006, but Terri still holds him close to her heart and says he was the only person who was right for her.

Bright Side wants to celebrate the life of Steve Irwin on what would have been his 30th wedding anniversary with Terri by recapping their love story. Terri also spoke out about the occasion and posted a touching picture that moved us greatly.

The couple first met in 1991.

Their first meeting was described as love at first sight. Steve Irwin was a huge animal lover, so it only makes sense that it is his love for animals that drew his future wife in.

He was 29 at the time, and she was 27. The pair had a lot in common — Steve had taken over the wildlife park, and Terri started her own wildlife rehabilitation facility.

Terri was sure that Steve was taken.

She recalls that she thought her life was going to be full of work and nothing else, but she fell in love with Steve instantly. However, because he was so nice, she thought that he had to be married. She heard him call out someone named Suey and expected it to be his wife, but, to her relief, it turned out to be a dog.

They tied the knot in 1992.

Since they both are animal lovers, instead of going to honeymoon, the couple went to a crocodile rescue mission and documented it. This is how the famous The Crocodile Hunter series has begun. A few years later the couple welcomed two kids — their daughter Bindi was born in 1998, named after Steve’s favorite crocodile, and son Robert was born in 2003.

The couple were raising the kids and continued filming documentaries about wildlife.

Steve tragically passed away in 2006.

The beloved television personality was in the middle of filming another documentary, when he was struck by a stingray and died. The information about his death became international news and a lot of fans all over the world grieved the loss.

Terri never got married or dated anybody again.

When asked about her love life, Terri said that Steve was the one for her, and that she hopes people will stop asking her the question of if she is ever planning to get into a relationship again. She said that she kept track of the rumors surrounding her love life over the years because she finds it funny. But she says she is too busy to chase anybody around because she still loves her late husband.

In 2018, Steve got honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Terri with the kids accepted it on his behalf.

She celebrated their wedding anniversary with a touching post.

On June 4, Terri posted a Tweet that reads: “I married this incredible bloke 30 years ago today. What an adventure! Love and legacy live on,” and attached the picture that you can see above. The tweet has been liked by over 500 thousand people, proving that the fans are still holding the memory of Steve in their hearts.
