To be an actor is to make the audience believe that the characters you play are as real as the audience is. But what’s more challenging is to portray a real-life figure that almost everyone around the globe knows. It can take an ocean of effort to find an actor who would be able to dive into the stories of a famous person and amaze us with their talents once more. And when these actors meet the right makeup professionals, we get to observe the wonderful magic of biopics.

When we look at our favorite actors, it seems that they just don’t change over the years. But unfortunately, (or fortunately), they do. When we see Charlize Theron or Salma Hayek, we realize that year after year, their appearance becomes even more interesting. Don’t you agree?

Ariel, Mulan, Pocahontas — all of these characters have been familiar to us since childhood. We are so used to seeing them in a certain way, we don’t even notice the inaccuracies in their image. For example, Belle should’ve worn a giant powdered wig and Jasmine should be walking the streets with her head covered.

Literature and cinema sometimes use very different methods to get the attention of the reader or the viewer. But even if we understand the concept, it is still really hard to not compare our favorite books to the films or series that were made based on it. And of course, we pay the most attention to the characters.

Film production is a tricky business, where plans can be ruined in the blink of an eye. Today we’re used to seeing Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and we could hardly imagine Hugh Jackman taking the lead. However, he was the first choice of the scriptwriter for Pirates of the Caribbean.

Celebrities don’t always agree when they get an offer to play a role from directors and producers. The reasons for this are different: some are afraid that viewers will find the movie boring, others don’t trust young directors and simply don’t see themselves in this role. For example, Charlize Theron didn’t want to play the mother of the main character in Wonder Woman because she considers herself too young for this role.

It seems some celebrities have never been young because we all remember them at a more mature age. In fact, they have either started their career quite late or, for some reason, we don’t remember the start of their creative path.

Sometimes, cartoons can touch on very serious problems just like movies. Directors and scriptwriters also pay attention to little details, plot twists, and characters. And some curious moments can only be noticed by viewers that have a lot of experience doing so.

Reality, as it turns out, is sometimes better than fairy tales—at least concerning Disney princesses by illustrator Jirka Väätäinen. He depicted them so cool!

There are many ways to get a starring role. Some actors are selected during castings, while others are invited due to their popularity, which is what happened to Kate Winslet after Titanic. But not all auditions end successfully, or actors may not agree to offers made by film directors or producers. We all love the magical world of movies. Where else can we see a police officer crawling inside of a ventilation shaft, or a British special agent walking toward the screen with a picturesque explosion in the background? Unfortunately, those events live only in movie directors’ imagination, but we still want to believe them.

When cartoon designers use animals or other creatures to give life to their characters, they grant them so much personality that it’s inevitable to see them as human-like beings. Sometimes, actors have to work hard for many years before becoming famous. And it may seem that certain celebrities have always been mature, with wrinkles on their faces and gray hair. But we know this can’t be true. That’s why we might not recognize them if we see photos of them when they were young.

Not all actors manage to break into Hollywood at a young age and settle there from their first attempt. Many of them have to do minor roles in movies and television for a long time and wait until their true success comes. This long-awaited moment comes at 32 for some and even later for others. Nevertheless, it brings the same big amount of joy as it does at an early age.
