10 Easy Hacks to Make Traveling With Kids a Mission Possible
If you love traveling, you’ll still want to go on trips even after you’ve started a family. Some are converting it into a family way of life, collecting great photos and sweet memories. Meanwhile, others are afraid of the very thought of going out of town with a baby. But almost every problem can be solved using clever hacks.
We at Bright Side believe that traveling together with your family can broaden your horizons and make you closer to each other. Today we have gathered 10 tricks that will help your trip with children go nice and smoothly. Also, there’s a useful bonus tip waiting for you at the end of the article.
1. In case talking doesn’t help, construct a barrier.
Scientists state that talking should work in a situation involving backseat fighting. Instead of expressing your dissatisfaction by shouting, do your best to be calm. However, if your young family members won’t stop their bickering, get 2 old surfboards or pieces of cardboard. Cut them according to the size of your car.
Also, don’t forget to make a hole for their hands. The point is to keep the kids out of reach of one another. Just remember that this will not make them stop shouting. For silence, use talking.
2. Create a comfortable place to sleep.
Comfortable surfaces directly affect the quality of sleep. If you are traveling by car, buy an inflatable mattress for the back seat. This way, you can turn your car into a bed on wheels. And you can get some sleep with the child when your arms and back get tired of sitting for a long time.
3. Use natural oils.
In airplanes, children’s ears are often plugged up. To help the kid avoid pain in their ears, benefit from the power of essential oils. Just rub a small drop of frankincense and lavender oils near their ears before landing and taking off.
4. Think outside the box.
A long trip or flight is a real challenge for little fidgeters — drawing and reading aren’t so comfortable in the car! And singing songs isn’t always acceptable to do in public places. Thus, the best activity to do is watch cartoons, movies or educational programs.
You need a tablet, a perforated sheet protector and 2 shoelaces. Just place the tablet in a sheet protector and tie it to the back of the front seat.
5. Car table
No one likes getting dirt in the car. It’s very difficult to keep the car neat during long trips with small children. This car table, which is attached to the baby seat, is easy to clean. In addition, you can put toys on it.
And on the sides of it are pockets for necessary things or little items.
6. Pack up a shower curtain.
Include a shower curtain in your bags or buy one upon arrival. When on the beach with small kids, use the curtain to organize a swimming pool for them. The construction itself will provide a fun activity for the whole family.
Dig a square or round hole in the sand. It shouldn’t be too deep, but big enough to have space for your kids to sit in. Work together and feel free to use your children’s beach “construction” toys. Carefully cover the swimming pool with the curtain and fill it with water.
7. Forget about a baby carriage.
This wonderful device can replace a stroller. It is suitable for hiking and for taking long excursions when children get tired quickly. Just imagine how happy the child will be to look at new places from the height of their father’s shoulders!
8. Get a temporary tattoo.
Emergencies occur even with the most attentive people. You can make a temporary tattoo of the address or phone number of the child’s parents and put it on their arm. This will be helpful if your kid gets lost.
9. Carry your baby the right way.
A sling is one more thing that can comfort your child. The familiar texture, color, and smell will help the child to relax and feel at home. The sling tightly presses the child to the parent’s body. Thanks to this method of carrying, the child knows the world, sees what their mother or father sees, and constantly hears the voices of their parents.
A toddler can stay cozy by wrapping themselves in it while sleeping in the car or on a plane.
10. Bed box
Unfortunately, there is very little space on board for your own mattress. The solution to the problem of sleeping in an airplane can be found in the bed box. The head of the child lies on the seat, and the legs are located on a soft surface with boards. This position of the body allows you to fasten your child with a seat belt.
