Lisa Marie Presley’s Daughter Secretly Welcomed Her First Child, Her Husband Hints at Presley’s Memorial Service

Life can sometimes throw the most unexpected curveballs at us at once, both tragic and joyous. Such is the case of Riley Keough, the daughter of the late Lisa Marie Presley. Elvis Presley’s granddaughter apparently became a first-time mom just around the time she lost her own mother. Keough was understandably absent from her mom’s memorial service, but her husband hinted in an emotional speech that they have become parents.

In the wake of Lisa Marie Presley’s untimely passing, her eldest daughter, 33-year-old Riley Keough, welcomed her first child with her husband, Ben Smith-Petersen. While the couple has not revealed their baby’s exact birthdate or name, Smith-Petersen first shared the news at the memorial service for Lisa Marie Presley, his late mother-in-law, that was held on January 22.

He read a moving farewell letter from his wife to her mother that said, “I remember how it felt to be loved by the most loving mother I’ve ever known. I remember how safe it felt to be in your arms. Thank you for showing me that love is the only thing that matters in this life.”

I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters,” Smith-Petersen said while reading aloud his wife’s eulogy. “Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor, my manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity. I’m a product of your heart, my sisters are a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart. We are you, you are us, my eternal love,” Keough wrote in the letter.

Unfortunately, Presley’s life ended too soon, preventing her from fully experiencing the joys of being a grandmother. But we can only imagine how thrilled she would be by the arrival of her first grandchild. Elvis Presley’s only daughter was laid to rest in Graceland on Sunday, January 22, as thousands of fans gathered to pay their respects.

Have you ever been in a situation where both happy and sad events took place at almost the exact same time?
