18 Women Who Decided to Get Out of Their Comfort Zone and Felt So Much Happier

It seems obvious that everyone decides for themselves what to wear, how to wear and dye their hair, or what beauty procedures to have. It’s never too late to change something about your look if you want to. But some of us still rely on other people’s opinions and we don’t allow ourselves to experiment with our looks.

At Bright Side, we admire the heroines of this article who dared to get out of their comfort zone, but it helped them feel so much happier.

“I’m 44 years old, just quit my decades long conservative job and got my septum pierced.”

“I’m nearly 35. After years of chronic acne, I finally sorted out my skin, only for someone to say, ’It’s a shame you’re so old now!’”

“I decided this year that it doesn’t matter how old I am, I can look how I want.”

“I’m turning 40, but I’m still fairly new to the makeup world. It’s never too late to learn.”

“I put this outfit in the fashion advice thread asking how to elevate it and mostly got, ’Don’t wear it.’”

“Yes, I have a belly and there is absolutely no need for me to hide it under layers of fabric. I rocked it!”

“I never wear eyeliner, so this smoky eye was definitely out of my comfort zone.”

“I recently turned 38 and decided to change up my hair color for something fun.”

“My first makeup-free day in 6 years”

“I’ve read a lot about lash lifts and tints for some time now, and had my first session today. Holy cow! Life’s changing!”

“I just turned 60 and took the plunge to an edgy pixie. I love it!”

“Thanks to everyone around here that encouraged me to try lipstick.”

“I haven’t felt beautiful or felt much self-worth in a very long time so I treated myself to a salon appointment for the very first time.”

“My new hair makes me feel like a fiery goddess ready to take on the world.”

“I never wear makeup, but today is my twelfth anniversary, so I had a go at following a YouTube tutorial.”

“I’m 41. It’s the first time I’m wearing such a revealing dress in public. You’re never too old to be more goth.”

“I feel like every 44-year-old could benefit from having a son who’s a personal trainer.”

“I’ve never worn makeup to work. We had a company meeting last Friday, and I decided to throw on a little war paint. I’m amazed at the confidence it gave me.”

“I was losing a lot of hair due to medical issues. So, today I said, ‘Let it be,’ and shaved half my head.”

“My face might not be very symmetrical, but I love this makeup look.”
