9 Products That Were Banned Because of Their Ingredients

This goody loved by many people was banned in the USA in 1938. Government officials prohibited the selling of products containing a nonedible element. And since those tiny pieces in these eggs can be a choking hazard, the import of the chocolate eggs was always suppressed. However, 5 years ago, inventive manufacturers managed to circumvent the law and get back into the US market.
Within the last 50 years, the number of chemical dyes used has increased by 500%, bringing a lot of harm to our health. These additives cause hyperactivity, and they can also develop an allergy or increase the risk of getting cancer. That’s why some artificial dyes in products exported to Europe are either completely removed from the product or replaced by natural ones.
Chicken with antibiotics
Chicken delivery from the biggest meat manufacturing American company, Tyson Foods, is banned in Europe, Russia, Norway, and Australia. It happened after the world found out that Tyson injected antibiotics, steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs, and ketamine into their poultry. After announcing this information, representatives from the company promised to exclude the use of such items, which they did in September of this year.
More than half of the countries in Europe banned GMO products in 2015 for reasons including allergenicity, toxicity, and the decrease of the nutritional value of the products. It’s important to know that not only fruits and vegetables can be genetically modified but also products of animal origin.
Bread with the addition of baking powder
Have you ever heard of potassium bromate? It serves as a baking powder. With its help, bread stays soft and beautiful for a long time as if it was just taken out of the oven. But potassium bromate can cause headaches, skin rashes, and problems with digestion. Unfortunately, it is found in most commercial types of bread. It is banned in Canada, China, and the EU.
Salmon grown on farms is banned in Australia and New Zealand. The problem is that these farmed fish are kept to a special strict diet that includes antibiotics and elements to increase caloricity. There are simply no healthy elements in this salmon.
Food with fat substitutes
Olestra is a synthetical fat substitute, and the number of calories it contains is zero. It is often used in fat-free potato chips marked with the word “Light.” It is thought that this chemical causes many negative consequences for the body, including poor absorption of essential vitamins. Foods containing olestra are completely banned in Canada and Europe.
Sports drinks are not necessarily bad or banned, and they actually contain vitamins, minerals, and other healthy elements. But some unscrupulous producers block the bad smell of this drink and enhance the color with the help of brominated vegetable oil, BVO (E-443). E-443 is banned in Japan and Europe due to its toxicity, and there is also a risk of developing breast and prostate cancer.
Manufacturers use many different tricks to increase sales. In order to get more milk, some cows in the USA are given a growth hormone. The use of the milk from such cows is connected with a risk of cancer, an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, and an increase in the level of thyroid hormones.That’s why this milk is banned in Norway, Switzerland, New Zealand, Japan, Australia, and 29 other European countries.
