A Neuroscientist Has Rejuvenated His Brain, and He’s Explaining How We Can Do the Same
The human brain is very complicated. It consists of 100 billion neurons and the quantity of connections between them equals more than there are stars. This organ takes part in everything we do. Its balanced work provides us with health, well-being, and wisdom. However, we lose 85,000 brain cells every day. But it turns out, a certain kind of lifestyle can change that.
Dr. Daniel G. Amen became interested in the secrets of the brain when he studied his own tomogram. He was 37 at that time and he found that his brain didn’t look too good. Daniel didn’t drink alcohol, smoke, or take drugs but he did have a few unhealthy habits: he slept only 4-5 hours a day, drank diet soda, was overweight, and suffered from chronic stress.
“I felt pity for my brain and wanted to improve it,” said the scientist. That was exactly when Dr. Amen began to work on himself, ditched his bad habits, and adopted healthier ones.
He founded dozens of clinics all over the world that studied brain function. For a period of 20 years, Dr. Amen made 70,000 tomograms for people from 90 different countries and proved that all of us could slow down or even reverse the aging process. The best demonstration that his theory was correct was the improvement of his own tomogram.

Our everyday habits can either bring harm or help to our brains. The most dangerous things for brain health are injuries (there’s nothing worse than a ball hitting your head), drugs and alcohol, obesity (when your weight increases, your brain activity decreases), smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes, environmental toxins, lack of exercise, addiction to computer games, excessive caffeine, lack of sleep, stress, a sedentary lifestyle and negative thoughts.
The brain’s greatest feature is its flexibility. That’s why everyone can improve their health! Dr. Daniel G. Amen recommends the following:
- Create positive social connections because we imitate the habits of people we communicate with.
- Never stop learning something new.
- Lead a healthy lifestyle.
- Take multivitamins and supplements with fish oil.
- Learn music.
- Perform physical exercise.
- Sleep at least 7 hours a day.
- Work on your positive thinking.
- Feel thankful for your life by writing down 3 things you’re thankful for every day — this will work better than any antidepressant.

A clear mind starts with a healthy brain. To make our dreams come true, our brain should work correctly and effectively. That’s why you have to be really attentive to your health. You should give up all your bad habits that are harmful to your brain and adopt healthier ones. “As soon as you learn how to love your brain and get rid of bad habits, you will be capable to use this organ at its full capacity,” claims Dr. Daniel G. Amen.

Of course, all of us know what healthy habits really are. We should eat healthily, sleep well, and have a positive outlook on life. We should build everything in our lives on this kind of foundation. But speaking honestly, do you manage to follow these habits? Tell us about it down below in the comments.
