10 Celebrities Share the Reasons Why They Enjoy Being Single

Although it is generally believed that being single comes with loneliness and a dull life, a recent study has found that unmarried women live longer and are happier. Many celebrities are also living proof of this, as they feel that they don’t need to be in a relationship in order to have an exciting and fulfilling life.

We at Bright Side decided to find out what 10 famous women think about singlehood and we came to truly admire their outlook.

In a 2020 conversation on The Drew Barrymore Show, Charlize revealed that she hasn’t dated anybody for over 5 years. But that doesn’t mean she feels unfulfilled in her life, as she spends the majority of her time on her children and her career. “My life is really good so you better be able to bring that and maybe better because I just won’t accept anything less,” the actress added.

“I don’t know how to date with kids,” she told Bobby Berk. “I’m not there yet. I have 2 young girls and, like, I don’t want to bring people home....” For Drew, as well, her children come before any potential partners. In the meantime, the actress is fully taking advantage of the single life, and she also said that she “never ever wants to get married again.”

3. Sharon Stone

The 64-year-old actress revealed that she doesn’t plan on being in a relationship ever again. “I’m done dating. I’ve had it with dating,” Sharon told Barrymore. “Because I just find people to be insincere and not worth my time. I enjoy my alone time and my time with my kids and friends more.”

4. Teri Hatcher

The Desperate Housewives star has been single for many years. Teri opened up about her experiences in an interview, saying that, “Many women who get divorced will not get remarried. That kind of sounds depressing, but it doesn’t have to be. Many women are not just surviving alone, they’re thriving.”

5. January Jones

“A perfect life? I’m living it. I feel really lucky, and I get to do something that I love to do. I like going to work, which I don’t think a lot of people get to say. I have a beautiful family, just got a new hamster. What’s more perfect?” the actress said about her life.

When asked about being single, she said, “I just don’t feel I need a partner.”

6. Mindy Kaling

“In my 20s, I was not only boy crazy, but marriage and relationship crazy. Now, it’s almost the opposite. My work is so rewarding, and I’m so self-centered about it that I’m kind of excited about not having to go home and ask someone about their day.” Mindy shared her thoughts in a 2014 interview.

7. Emilia Clarke

The Game of Thrones actress has been single for years and enjoying it. “People keep asking me who I’m dating right now and the truth is...wait for it...no one. And that’s OK. I’m figuring out a lot of stuff right now. I think as a woman, it’s in our nature to nurture someone else. Sometimes at the expense of ourselves,” Emilia said.

8. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer enjoys being single, but there is one thing she dislikes when it comes to not having a partner. That is her friends trying to set her up with people. “We are complete with or without a mate, with or without a child,” the actress opened up in 2016.

9. Julianne Hough

“My dad used to say to me, ’When you feel happy with who you are, you won’t need anybody to fill a void.’ So for now, I’m focusing on my work and my soul. I honestly don’t care if I meet somebody or not. I’m just loving life on my own with my own 2 feet on the ground,” the actress said.

10. Selena Gomez

“I think most of my experiences in relationships have been cursed. I’ve been way too young to be exposed to certain things when I was in relationships. I guess I needed to find what was that word for me, because I felt so less than in past relationships, and never really felt equal,” Selena revealed in a 2021 interview.
