After Two Divorces, Eva Longoria Reopens Her Heart and Forms Her Dream Family

Marriage is certainly not easy — it’s not just about love but mainly about open communication and a real commitment to the other person. Sometimes, for one reason or another, things don’t work out and couples go their separate ways. Getting back into the dating world can be scary, but with a little luck, the right person can come along.

Actress Eva Longoria grew up surrounded by love, but she wasn’t that lucky in her romantic life and had two failed marriages. She decided that divorce was the best thing to do and she was right because oftentimes, the brightest rainbows follow the darkest rainstorms.

Eva Longoria is an actress of Mexican descent who has fought for what she has. She became successful in Hollywood after playing Gabrielle Solis in Desperate Housewives in 2004. Before her big break, she appeared in a few series. It was in one of them, General Hospital, where she met her first husband, to whom she was married for two years.

After the divorce, Eva was already receiving a lot of attention from the press thanks to the success of Desperate Housewives, and it was at that point that she met basketball player Tony Parker in a game in which he played. The chemistry between the two was evident and rumors of a romantic relationship began.

They looked very much in love. Although she was seven years older than him, they managed to make love triumph over the age difference and decided to get married on July 7, 2007, a date they thought was special. They had a dream wedding in France with their family and friends.

Unfortunately, three years after the wedding, Eva filed for divorce when she found out that Tony was unfaithful. She was heartbroken. Her good friend, the presenter, Mario Lopez, told the press: “She’s devastated, she wants us all to know that. But she’s strong.”

The divorce was so high-profile that it had an impact on the actress’s mental health. Longoria said, “I was not eating. I was depressed. I was sad. My diet was coffee. People kept saying, ’You look amazing. Divorce agrees with you.’ And I was like, ’I don’t feel good. I have no energy.’ I didn’t know I was depressed.”

Still, she took a rather mature stance on the situation. According to the actress, “So many people want me to hate him and destroy him, but I don’t want to. I want him to be happy. He’s not a bad person. I do believe in forgiving and forgetting. There was a reason we were together. I just want to hold on to the good times.” And, yes, maybe there was a reason they parted ways — she was supposed to form her dream family with another man.

In 2010, Eva Longoria met José Bastón, known as Pepe. However, at the time, both of them were coming out of relationships that hadn’t worked out and weren’t ready to start a new one. It wasn’t until 2013 that they saw each other again and started dating that same year.

They could be seen together at many events and on a trip to Dubai, Pepe finally proposed to Eva. She said yes, of course! Eva commented, “When Pepe and I met, I said I didn’t ever want to get married again. He said, ’Great, me neither.’ And here we are!”

Eva believes that time and age played a crucial role in the success of their relationship. She said, “I do think that finding love at 40, I found (my husband) when I was 40 — and he was 50 — it was just like, ‘Can we just enjoy this life together?’”

Marriage seems to have suited them well. Eva described, “Some days we feel like we’ve been married for 40 years and other days we feel like we’ve been married for two seconds — just depends on the day.” And after a few years of marriage, they decided to have a child together — the first for the actress and the fourth for her husband. So, in a way, Eva already had some training in being a mother since she was living with Pepe and his children.

Eva has a close relationship with her husband’s children. When speaking about it, she explained, “They have been a great gift in my life. I don’t feel we are lacking because we don’t have a baby.” She always considered herself blessed for that dynamic and strong relationship with them.

In 2018, Eva and Pepe became the parents of Santiago. And Eva has radiated happiness since the moment that baby arrived in her life. She didn’t mind in the least being a mother at a mature age, “I think kids are a product of love, so if you find the right person and you want to have a family with that person, then that’s when the time is right.”

Life has smiled on Eva and now she can’t stop sharing photos with her son Santiago and enjoying her family life. She wouldn’t change a thing about her past since what she has now is partly due to what she went through before.

The actress has no regrets, “I think every relationship is a path to where you are today. Every wrong turn led you to the spot where you were, so it wasn’t necessarily the wrong turn at the time. I wouldn’t change anything—never.”

People get divorced for different reasons, and oftentimes, something that seemed so hard can end up being beneficial. In the case of parents going through a divorce, there are a number of things they should consider to make the whole process easier on the kids.
