Scratches on glasses spoil their aesthetics and impair your visibility. Moreover, they can even tire out your eyesight and cause headaches. But you don’t need to contact specialists for professional repairs. There are some simple methods to refresh them and get rid of the scratches at home.

Bright Side gathered some tips that can help you refresh your spectacles with scratches.

Universal methods:

1. Baking soda and water

This method will save your budget and has proven to be very effective. Dissolve 1 tbsp baking soda in 1 tbsp water, rub the mixture into the scratches. Then wash the lenses with water and wipe with a microfiber cloth.

2. Сar glass cleaner

This liquid perfectly repels moisture and levels out any tiny bumps. By the way, glasses repaired with it will fog up less. Simply apply a small amount of detergent to the lenses and then wipe in a circular motion with a tissue.

3. Computer screen cleaner

People in computer servicing often use it to restore the performance of computer disks. The elimination of minor damage is the main task of this tool. This makes it ideal for glasses. Apply liquid to the lenses, and then wipe the surface with a soft, clean cloth.

4. Non-abrasive toothpaste

Apply a small amount of paste to your finger and rub it in a circular motion on the scratch. Then wipe the scratch with a clean tissue. If the scratches are too deep, you need to repeat the procedure from 3 to 5 times.

5. Wood polish and vaseline

To get rid of scratches, simply spray it on your glasses. After that, you can take some vaseline and wipe the problem surface with it. Scratches should become less noticeable.

Remember that the lacquer shouldn’t be thick, otherwise it dries out before you can evenly spread it over the surface. Wait until the nail polish is completely dry. Voila!

3. Tooth powder

Dilute the tooth powder in a small amount of water until it’s a pasty consistency. Apply it to the damaged surface. After 20 minutes, remove paste from the lenses with a microfiber tissue.

4. Vinegar and baking soda

To get rid of small scratches, mix 1 tbsp baking soda and 1 tsp vinegar. Rub the mixture into the scratches, then rinse with water, and wipe with a soft tissue.

5. Dishwashing liquid

Dishwashing liquid is perfect for rescuing glasses. With it, you can remove small spots and scuffs. Just wipe the stains and scratches with this liquid, then rinse with water and remove the residue with a tissue.
