Everyday hassles can be really annoying, so it’s always useful to have a few tricks up your sleeve. It can be really simple to never lose the end of the scotch tape again, or make your eyeshadow last longer in the least expensive way possible. There are many quick hacks that can make your daily routine a lot easier, and you don’t even need to be the most resourceful person to accomplish this.
Bright Side is always on the lookout for easy and clever solutions to ordinary problems, so we found some quick tricks to make your everyday life a little bit smoother.
1. Line the bottom of your trash can with old newspaper.
That way it will absorb the gross leaks that organic waste leaves in your trash can.
2. Stick a paper clip at the end of tape rolls.
You won’t ever have to struggle again to find the end of your scotch tape.
3. Ease insect bites with a pantry ingredient.
Apply raw tomato to bug bites for easy and quick relief from the annoying itch.
4. Fix your ripped pants in no time.
The greatest life hack is to walk around with an emergency sewing kit. You never know when you might need it. Read more about quick clothing fixes here.
5. Use your regular lip balm as a makeup primer.
Lip balm works great as a primer. Everything stays in place, even in hot weather, and your eye shadow colors will really pop.
6. Sprinkle a mixture of cornstarch and baking soda in your hair to absorb oil.
Make your own dry shampoo with pantry ingredients or just use plain cornstarch directly on your roots. Read about it here.
7. Clean your microwave by steaming vinegar.
Just pour water and vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl, microwave it for 5 minutes, let it sit for 2-3 minutes, then wipe all the grease and stains clean. No harmful chemicals, no fuss.
8. Remove a splinter by applying a water and baking soda paste.
No more painful poking. Just apply a paste made up of water and baking soda, wait for a little while for the splinter to pop out, and then remove it. It’s great for children.
9. Use a keyring to keep your zipper in place.
If your zipper won’t stay up, use a keyring to leave it in place. Just attach the keyring to the open part of the zipper, zip up your bottoms and place the keyring around the button. When you close your pants or shorts, everything will stay put.
10. Drop a battery on the table to check if it’s charged.
If you have loose batteries and don’t know whether they are high or low on power, just drop them onto the table. If they’re running low, they’ll bounce a lot more than batteries that are fully charged.
11. Use a dustpan as a type of funnel.
If you need to fill a bucket or something similar, but it won’t fit your sink, you can use a clean dustpan as a fake water fountain. Just place the wider part below the running water and the handle will work as a funnel to the bucket on the floor.
12. Use a wet paper towel to cool off your drinks quickly.
Wrap a wet paper towel around your beers, wines, or other refreshments that are in glass containers and place them in the freezer. This will cool down your beverages much faster.
13. Shave your sweaters with a razor.
This sounds a little weird, but carefully shaving your sweater with a razor will eliminate pilling. It’s better to use a woman’s razor for the task since it is more gentle.
14. Use black tea bags to soothe sunburns.
Summer is awesome, but it can also be rough. If you accidentally enjoyed a sunny day too much, use black tea bags soaked in cold water and apply them directly onto your skin to soothe it.
15. Microwave 2 bowls at the same time with the help of a mug.
This is very simple, yet very clever. Place one bowl on the turning plate, put a mug turned upside down beside on the turning plate, and then place the other bowl on top of the bottom of the mug. Now you don’t have to wait anymore.
