12 Cleaning Products That Can Revitalize Your Home

The various cleaning products that are being sold around the globe made a total of $235.76 billion in 2021 and this amount will only keep increasing until 2028. But sometimes we don’t necessarily need a specific cleaner, an everyday product can do the same job with less cost. For example, dishwasher tablets aren’t limited to cleaning only dishes and cutlery, and toothpaste can clean a lot more than just your teeth.

Bright Side has a few unusual suggestions for how to implement household cleaning products in your daily cleaning routine.

1. Dishwasher tablets for the oven door

All you need for this one is to hold a tablet in your hand and dip it in some warm water. Make sure to use gloves for this method so your hands are protected from the chemicals. Then you can start rubbing the oven door with the tablet, dipping it in water every time it starts drying out. Make sure to not soak it for too long since it will crumble away before you get a chance to use it.

If you don’t want to use this method, you can turn on the oven on broil until it gets warm and then spray it with some classic oven cleaner. Then, you will need to scrub for a bit and use a cloth to wipe off all the dirt.

2. Dishwasher tablets for the toilet

You can put the tablet in some water and let it dissolve. Then you can take your brush, dip it in the dissolved solution, and start cleaning the inside of the toilet thoroughly. Not only can you do this, but you can also drop a tablet in the toilet water and let it dissolve a bit before you flush. This way, the entire toilet will smell very fresh and it will radiate cleanliness.

3. Use toothpaste for stained white plates.

White plates are very easy to stain, and sometimes these stains are very hard to remove. What you can try is apply a good amount of toothpaste on the stains and start scrubbing using a toothbrush or a sponge. Make sure that the toothpaste you’re using contains baking soda. If you feel it’s needed, you can keep adding more toothpaste and keep on scrubbing.

4. Dishwasher tablets for burnt food on pots and pans

Accidents happen, and sometimes you burn something in your pan and it’s a nightmare to clean it afterward. That’s why you can leave a dishwasher tablet in the pan, cover it with hot water, and let it sit for a couple of hours. The tablet will dissolve and loosen up all the hardened oil and burns. You will find it very easy to clean the pan afterward since the tablet will have done all the hard work for you.

5. Clean your stovetop with vinegar and baking soda

If you have a gas stovetop, then the first step would be to remove the grates and burner caps. If they haven’t been cleaned in a long time, then a mixture of 1 part vinegar and 2 parts baking soda might do the trick. Add a few drops of liquid soap in the mix and let the parts sit in it for about 20 minutes — then scrub and wash them.

For the stovetop, you need to assess how bad the situation is. If the grease is solid and doesn’t move when you try to scrub it with a sponge, then you need to use the same mixture as above. Spread it all over the top and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Then you can use a sponge and gently scrub the dirt away.

6. Use bleach and sugar to keep flowers fresh longer.

Many people cut flowers from their gardens and put them in vases in their houses. However, the water tends to smell bad and get cloudy very fast, and there is a good solution to that. You can drop 1/4 teaspoon of bleach inside the water along with a teaspoon of sugar for every 1 liter of water. This will help the water stay healthy for longer and prevent the growth of bacteria.

7. Use window cleaner for diamond rings.

This tip works great for diamond rings made of silver and gold, and it is very simple to do. All you need is to add equal parts of window cleaner and hydrogen peroxide. You can either soak the ring in the solution for a bit and then scrub it with a toothbrush, or spray the solution on the ring and start scrubbing. After finishing with that, you will need to rinse with warm water and let the ring dry completely.

8. Use toothpaste to clean the bathroom tiles.

If you have tiles in your bathroom wall, chances are that you are struggling with grout and soap remnants. What you can do is apply some white non-gel type toothpaste on the affected areas and scrub them with a toothbrush. After finishing your task, you can take a cloth and wet it with water and dish soap. Rub it all over the tiles and wipe away all the toothpaste residue.

9. How to clean really dirty stainless steel

There are many products out there that promise miraculous results with your stainless-steel items. But, according to a Reddit user, the best one is Bar Keepers Friend. You just have to spray around the dirt and then scrub or wipe it away depending on how dirty the surface is. The more dirty something is the more scrubbing you’ll have to do.

10. Use toothpaste on your iron.

Sometimes irons get stained when we use it on plastic or other materials that we shouldn’t. A good trick is to apply toothpaste on the affected areas and let it sit for a minute, and then wipe it away with a clean cloth. Then, you will need to fill the water tank of the iron and turn it on with the steam setting on. Let it steam as much as possible, and you will notice the difference that will make.

11. Clean your bathtub or shower with bleach.

After you’ve removed everything from inside your tub or shower, mix 1/3 cup of bleach with a gallon of water. Then use a sponge to wipe all the surfaces with the bleach solution and let it sit for around 6 minutes. During that time, the bleach will be able to disinfect the surfaces and weaken any dirt. After that time, you can rinse thoroughly with water and repeat the procedure, if needed.

12. Clean your shower head with vinegar.

Finding limescale and other dirt on your showerhead is inevitable. It can block the flow of water at an annoying level. The easiest way to solve this is to remove the showerhead and put it in a container, covering it with white vinegar. Leave it in there for 30 minutes, then remove it and rinse it with warm water. If needed, you can use a toothbrush to remove the limescale and repeat the process as many times as you want.

Will you be trying any of these hacks yourself? If so, we’d love to hear your results.
