15 Pictures of Animals Taken Before and After They Grew Up Together
What can be better than having a friend? Having a best friend to grow up with! And it doesn’t matter whether they have spikes or whether they can fly or swim — animals of different species really can become best friends.
We at Bright Side have put together 15 charming photos that prove animals can be friends too, no matter how diverse or how strange it might seem.
Cat Rosie and her Huskies
Rosie was found on the street in California when she was a tiny sick kitten. Siberian huskies Lilo, Infinity, and Miko took Rosie under their wing and have seemingly helped to nurse her back to health. The family also has two rabbits and four other cats, and all of them, according to the owners, are good friends.
Cats Thick and Thin
These charming kittens were found in the garden when they were only a few days old. Now they are grown up but still do everything together. What they do particularly well is eat, sleep, and play around.
Pet fox Juniper with Moose the dog
A pet fox and a dog have been best friends since the day they met, when Moose’s owner rescued Juniper and brought her home. Moose, who was also rescued at a very young age, accepted Juniper’s friendship immediately.
Hedgehog Biddy and dog Charlie
Spikes aren’t an obstacle to friendship. Biddy, the traveling hedgehog, and his friend, Charlie, have been together for five happy years now and have experienced a lot of adventures.
Darren and Phillip, the English Staffordshire Bull Terriers
Though these adorable puppies are not real brothers, they are exactly alike. Surprisingly, unlike most dogs, Darren and Phillip like to wear baby clothes.
Miniature pig Olive, two bulldogs, and a Boston terrier
A tiny pig named Olive has grown up with Tilly the British bulldog, a Boston terrier called Alfie, and Lola, a French bulldog. It seems Olive thinks she is a dog too.
Pumpkin the raccoon and her dog friends
The two dogs’ owner found a month-old baby raccoon in her backyard. The raccoon was abandoned by her mom and broke one of her hind legs. The woman took the furry creature to her home where Pumpkin soon became friends with two dogs, Oreo and Toffee.
A rat called Riff and dog Osiris
Many dogs don’t like mice and rats. However, this story is not true for Osiris, a dog that adores his friend, a rat called Riff. When the neighbors ask the owner if she is afraid Osiris will eat Riff she answers, "Nope! Osiris has helped foster and care for dozens of animals and he is the gentlest dog I’ve ever met."
Dog Callie and Stewart the squirrel
Stewart the squirrel was sick when he appeared in a family which already owned Callie, the mini Australian Shepherd. The dog took Stewart under her wing, and the animals soon became best friends.
Golden Retriever Milo and Stuart the Guinea Pig
Milo has everything a dog can dream of in life, including his best friend: the guinea pig.
Cat Komari and ferrets
Komari, once a tiny kitten, has already outgrown his fellow ferrets. However, the friends continue doing everything together.
Baloo, Leo, and Shere Khan
In 2001, Baloo, Leo, and Shere Khan were rescued from a crack house by police officers where they were kept as living toys. All three cubs were frightened and wounded. The animals were brought to Noah’s Ark, a nonprofit animal shelter. After some time, all the cubs recovered, but they still remained lethargic and unhappy. Then the workers of the shelter suggested that the animals (who were kept separately) missed each other, and they were right. Baloo, Leo, and Shere Khan were put in the same habitat, and now they live happily together.
Twin cats Iris and Abyss
These unusual cats from St. Petersburg found their owner when they were just three months old. Their different eye colors are caused by heterochromia, a genetic condition that also affects humans.
Dogs and ducks
The dogs Pikelet and Patty Cakes, from Sydney, Australia, care for two cute ducklings named Penguin and Popinjay that were brought home by their owners.
Kasi the cheetah and Mtani the Labrador
Mtani (which in Swahili means “best friend“) and Kasi (meaning ”fast") live in the National Park in Florida. The cheetah cub and Labrador Retriever puppy were introduced to each other when Kasi was abandoned by his mom. The cubs became friends very quickly, and their friendship remains strong today despite the fact that a grown-up Kasi began to spend more time among his relatives while Mtani pays attention to other cheetahs.
