I had a Pit Bull named Grace. I was preparing to take in a foster dog from a rescue, so I took Grace to the vet to get her all caughtbup on shots because I didn't want her to catch anything from the foster. It was a Saturday night, around 10pm when my phone rang. It was my vet calling. She said she got the results of Gracie's blood work. She had cancer and the vet told me she might have 120 days to live. I was sitting on the floor crying hysterically. The 3 legged foster, who had been there about 5 days, came over to me, stood up on his one back leg. He put his front paws on each of mu shoulders and hugged me.

In that moment I knew he was no longer a foster. He was staying.

Grace died 2 weeks later.

I was told when I was 3 years old that I had fallen off a homemade swing, rolled down a hill & into a patch of stinging nettles, my grandmas Boxer "Buff" who was always by my side ran up to the cottage & alerted the adults to my whereabouts..Who knows how long I would have been in there if it weren't for him..

I also remember a story about a herd of elephants & the old gentleman who was studying them..He lived out in the middle of nowhere & after his death, the herd of elephants he had befriended during his studies travel huge distances every year around the same date as his passing & visit the old shack he lived in..
