Famous public figures have access to all cutting-edge beauty treatments the rest of the world can only dream of. As ELLE magazine notes, it's usually celebrities who are the first to test the latest breakthroughs in cosmetic technologies. However, sometimes their beauty secrets may look quite weird to ordinary people as they include strange ingredients or unusual techniques.

Bright Side gathered the most bizarre trends that Hollywood celebrities are really hooked on.

10. A gold facial

Israeli model Bar Refaeli indulges in a 24-carat liquid gold facial to keep her skin glowing and healthy. This luxurious metal treatment is known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-acne, and anti-aging benefits.

9. False teeth

The Hollywood smile has become a standard requirement for almost every famous public figure, and veneers are one of the ways to achieve it. These thin shells of porcelain that are attached to the front of each tooth are usually used to change the size, shape, color, or position of the teeth.

Sivan Finkel, a dentist from New York, says that the first thing that happens when someone starts their career is their agent tells them, "You've gotta get veneers now."

Dental implants are a more radical way to improve your smile. They represent tooth roots made of zirconium or titanium that are placed in the jawbone. Unlike veneers, in this case, you must get rid of all your natural teeth and live with a complete set of artificial ones for the rest of your life.

8. The vampire face-lift

Kim Kardashian's favorite type of face-lift consists of taking your own blood and injecting it into your face with very small needles in the form of platelet-rich plasma. The procedure is said to rejuvenate your facial tissue and to prevent wrinkles.

7. Thai Face Slapping

Thai Face Slapping is a rare beauty treatment based on slap therapy and being led by Mawin and Tata New Series World. The unusual prodedure is said to tighten your facial muscles, erase wrinkles, and reverse signs of aging.

One 15 minute session from Tata at San Francisco's Face Slapping International costs around $350 for one side of your face, and it's become really popular in certain celebrity circles.

6. Cinderella surgery

The Cinderella procedure, or "bunionectomy" in medical terms, is an osteotomy with screw fixation for the correction of hallux valgus. In other words, this popular cosmetic procedure reshapes feet so that women can easily walk in high heels.

Dr. Neal Blitz, a podiatrist from Manhattan, says the trend is led by Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, and Nicholas Kirkwood shoes which are really popular among celebrities nowadays.

5. Bee venom

A mask containing bee venom performs all the effects of Botox without using a needle. This is Kate Middleton's favorite treatment as the toxins of bee venom help her reduce wrinkles. The Duchess of Cambridge confirms that this mask lifts, firms, and provides anti-aging skincare without any other cosmetic procedures.

4. Velaterapia

Velaterapia, also known as "candle cutting," is a popular Brazilian hair treatment which uses fire to get rid of split ends. This technique is widely popular among such Victoria's Secret supermodels like Alessandra Ambrosio and Barbara Fialho.

3. Snail slime

While the French eat snails, Hollywood celebrities smear them on their skin. Katie Holmes often use snail slime skincare products to keep her skin smooth, soft, and glowing. Snail slime consists of elastin, glycolic acid, and protein and this combination has a great many of advantages – it helps regenerate damaged tissue, clear acne, reduce pigmentation, and beat wrinkles.

2. Red wine baths

Almost all of us know that drinking a glass of red wine is actually good for our health, but not everybody is aware of the benefits this drink can provide for our skin.

Teri Hatcher usually adds a glass of wine to her bath – it helps make skin softer and smoother and it increases skin cell renewal. "The only bad thing is you can't drink the whole bottle of wine," she says.

1. The Geisha Facial

Uguisu no fun, which literally means "nightingale feces", is the favorite treatment of Victoria and David Beckham who regularly use the facials containing a mixture of nightingale excrement, rice bran, and water.

This ancient Japanese technique based on the bird's poop helps reduce the appearance of acne and makes your facial skin look smoother, brighter, and healthier.
