Can someone explain the first story to me. About the $15 and $100. I don’t get it.
The lender did not expect the borrower will paid the 15 since days passed. Unexpectedly the borrower pay the 15 just to show that she can paid debt (means she paid to gain trust - that she could paid debt). Later she want to borrow 100, which who know when will she pay back.
There was this one time I lent a co worker 200 bucks so her daughter can go on a field trip and she promised me to pay me back within a month or so. After 2 years later I stopped talking to her or making eye contact at work. Then a friend invited her to come over to my house to play cards with my mom so i just ignored her and gave her looks. I believe her friend convinced her to finally pay me back and that'swhen i stsrted talking to her, but why it took sooo long
Know who is trustworthy before lending money! I lent a relative $10000 because their funds were tied up temporarily and they had a closing on their house. Paid me back WITH INTEREST (even though I said no interest was necessary) within a week. Also lent a friend money for her kid's college tuition, she paid me back $10 or $20 at a time every paycheck until the debt was satisfied. And I refused to cosign for another relative to buy a car because I knew there was a good chance I'd get stuck on that one. Use your brain in these situations and you are less likely to get snookered!
Agree on that. Lots of friend come to me to borrow money. I lend them without doubt because they tell me the situation and we can discuss together how much needed and so on.
Some friends of my friend's parents were visiting them when they got a hysterical call from their daughter in law. Turns out their son had been writing not checks all over town and she and he were going to be arrested. Well, my friend's Dad had just come into some, not alot, of money, so when the mom starts weeping, he helps them out. He is good he will get his money back A.S.A.P., right? Wrong. 4 years go by. Years. Well , one day I hear through the grapevine that the parents are taking a cruise to ALASKA!! I dropped a dime to my buddy and he makes a call. . . Dad hangs on the guys door and he answers...sleepy " You're taking any spending money we had for our much needed vacation! " ( Needed? He got it by taking a trip and call at work, something he did on a regular basis so he could have drugs and money and not work.). Dad says " Don't care dude. Cough it up. " That guy never talked to him again but sailed like a puppy at his funeral. Go figure.
Hubby lent a coworker $20 dollars. The coworker promised to pay him back the next payday. Meanwhile, hubby treated his coworker to lunch a couple times knowing the guy was short on funds. Payday comes and goes, with no sign of the coworker. The following payday, hubby goes to coworker and kindly asks to get repaid. The coworker scoffs and loudly tells their colleagues, "Can you believe this guy? He said he'd treat me to lunch and now he wants me to pay him back for it!" Hubby keeps his cool and says, "I'm not asking you to pay me back for lunch. I'm asking you to pay back the money you borrowed and said you'd pay back 2 weeks ago." Other coworkers chime in and say, "That's why the rest of us don't lend you money anymore.'
I always think that if you loan someone $100 and you never see them again, it was probably a good investment.
