Pixar Studio Has Released a Powerful Video About How Hard It Is to Be the Only Woman in the Office
Here’s a new short movie created by Pixar Studio that tells a story of Purl, a pink ball of yarn, who gets a job at B.R.O. Capital. As time passes, she understands that she differs from her colleagues and tries to do everything to fit in with this group and make her new colleagues like her.
So what happens to Purl then? Bright Side wants you to watch this movie with your own eyes.
The filmmakers say they wanted to draw people’s attention to the problem of gender inequality in the workplace. So, they decided to show the way equal workplaces for all employees can look using cartoon characters.
By the way, this is the first video created by SparkShorts, a new experimental storytelling initiative started by Pixar. It’s aimed at making short movies that depict important topics.
In addition to Purl’s story, 2 more videos have been released.
Smash and Grab is a story of 2 old robots who put their lives on the line to be free.
Kitbull is a rather sad, but really touching story about true friendship between a stray kitten and a pit bull.
What would you do if you faced inequality in the workplace? Would you try to be just like everyone else or would you try to stand out among your new colleagues—and help them understand and accept who you are?
