10 Actors Who Are Ashamed of Their Iconic Roles
When watching their favorite movies like the Star Wars series, the James Bond films or the Jason Bourne trilogy, many people have no idea that the actors absolutely hated the characters they portrayed. There are different reasons for this: some actors trusted their agents and were disappointed in the project while others thought they simply did a bad job. Some actors just decided to do a certain film for the sole purpose of earning money and becoming famous.
Bright Side found out which actors feel ashamed of their iconic roles.
1. Harrison Ford — Star Wars
Out of the 2 iconic characters that Harrison Ford has portrayed, he values Indiana Jones more. Believe it or not, he doesn’t have much love for Han Solo, the role that made him famous. The actor thinks the character is dumb and is only a secondary character.
After the film The Empire Strikes Back, he begged Geroge Lucas to kill Han Solo (and his wish finally came true in episode VII). During the press tour of Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi, Ford said that he was ready to put on the costume one last time.
2. Matt Damon — The Bourne Ultimatum
Matt Damon did a really great job in the Jason Bourne trilogy but he didn’t really enjoy The Bourne Ultimatum. He thinks that scriptwriter Tony Gilroy is responsible for the bad quality of the final film. The actor once said, “It’s just that it was unreadable. This is a career-ender. It’s terrible. It’s really embarrassing.”

At the time, I thought this role would help my career. But everything turned out to be completely different.” This failure helped Clooney choose better roles in the future which led to several Oscar nominations.

7. Cher — Burlesque
In Burlesque, Cher plays a strong-willed leader of dancers that hires a talented new girl and teaches her everything she knows. Cher had high hopes for Burlesque and later she said that she thought the director Steve Antin was the reason why the film was so bad. She thinks that her character is boring, underdeveloped, and is disappointed that she didn’t have a romantic plot in the film. She said, “This movie could have been much better. I feel really sad that it is what it is.”

I hate Daredevil.” But not everything about the film was bad: while working on it, he met his future wife Jennifer Garner. Their marriage lasted for 13 years and they have 2 children.
