It may seem a little bit boring to have a movie shot entirely at one single location, but there have been many movies in the history of cinema that are equally gripping and enthralling through to the end, that were confined to a single set. These movies have a limited cast and budget, and this very genre is called a chamber piece, a chamber drama, or a chamber film.

These constrictions brought out the best in the movies listed below by Bright Side. Happy bingeing!

1. The Platform (2019)

The Platform showcased a vertical prison with only one cell on every level. Every cell had 2 people in it. There’s only one food platform and the prisoners only have 2 minutes to be fed from up to down. This is the nightmare life that people go through when trapped in solitary confinement.

2. Gerald’s Game (2017)

This movie is based on Stephen King’s novel that goes by the same name. It’s about a woman who has to make it out alive when her husband dies unexpectedly after handcuffing her to a bedpost.

3. Cube (1997)

Cube is a movie centered around 6 total strangers with varied personalities who are trapped in an infinite maze. It’s full of lethal traps, which makes this movie an intriguing watch.

4. Carnage (2011)

After 2 boys get into a brawl on a school playground, the parents decide to meet in a Brooklyn apartment to settle the matter for good. The polite discussion of issues turns an afternoon into an evening, and soon things get chaotic because of verbal warfare.

5. 12 Angry Men (1957)

12 Angry Men is an epic drama about a group of jurors in a room who has to decide the fate of an 18-year-old on trial. Every jury member involved has to make their own case for their own decision, along with some very convincing evidence that seemed to be crystal clear at the beginning.

6. Buried (2010)

In this movie, Ryan Reynolds finds himself buried alive inside a coffin. He has to escape this claustrophobic death trap with just a lighter and a cell phone, before time runs out.

7. Panic Room (2002)

Panic Room is a movie about a divorced woman and her diabetic daughter who take refuge in the safe room of their own house when 3 men break in to look for some missing fortune and will go to any lengths to find it. The movie stars a young Kristen Stewart and Jodie Foster.

10. Locke (2013)

11. Non-Stop (2014)

A Federal Air Marshal (Liam Neeson) tries his best to stop an attack on board his plane. He receives a series of text messages that demand a payout for $150 million to be deposited into an offshore account, otherwise, there will be dire consequences every 20 minutes.

12. 127 Hours (2010)

127 Hours is the true story of Aron Ralston (James Franco), who gets stuck under a boulder while hiking near Utah. Ralston later takes desperate measures before he’s rescued.

13. The Man From Earth (2007)

A goodbye party for Professor John Oldman becomes an intriguing interrogation that happens in a single room for the entire movie. He shares with his colleagues that he has had a longer and weirder past than any of them could ever fathom.

14. Rear Window (1954)

The entire movie is shot from one point of view and that’s what makes the movie super-tense. After losing his leg, Jeff is confined to a wheelchair for life, and he begins to keep an eye on his neighbors with his camera. Soon, he finds that one neighbor has committed a crime and Jeff leaves no stone unturned to prove that he’s right.
