What If Actors Were the Same Age As the Characters They Played

The characters of our favorite books often come alive on movie screens. Of course, actors playing them don’t always match the age of their characters. For example, the age difference between Audrey Hepburn and her character Holly Golightly is 14 years. While Vasily Livanov played Sherlock Holmes while he was 17 years older than the character. Anyway, is it even possible to imagine someone in their place?

We at Bright Side decided to fantasize a bit and find out how actors would look if they were the same age as their characters.

1. Audrey Hepburn (Holly Golightly)

In Truman Capote’s book Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Holly’s age is indicated at the very beginning, “I thought her anywhere between 16 and 30; as it turned out, she was 2 months shy of her 19th birthday.”

2. Richard Madden (Robb Stark)

The age of the character is indicated in George R. R. Martin’s book, A Game of Thrones, “There must always be a Stark in Winterfell. Robb is 14.”

3. Michelle Fairley (Lady Catelyn)

The fans of the fantasy novel A Song of Ice and Fire and the TV series Game of Thrones managed to calculate the age of this character.

4. Aidan Gillen (Petyr Baelish)

The age of the “Littlefinger” was also calculated by the fans of the books and TV series.

5. Rory McCann (Sandor “the Hound” Clegane)

The Hound is approximately 5 years younger than Lady Catelyn.

6. Vasily Livanov (Sherlock Holmes )

In Arthur Conan Doyle’s book, Sherlock was born in approximately 1854 and met Dr. Watson in 1881. By the way, the character played by Livanov was recognized by the Queen of Great Britain and Livanov was awarded the Order of the British Empire for his role.

7. Leonardo DiCaprio (Frank Abagnale)

Catch Me If You Can is the autobiography of Frank Abagnale where he recounts his lifestyle of committing bold crimes. He started his fraud career at 16 by writing fake checks.

8. Jonathan Pryce (Don Quixote)

Miguel de Cervantes, the author of the novel about Don Quixote, only indicates the approximate age of the hero saying, “The age of this gentleman of ours was bordering on 50.”

9. Emma Watson (Beauty)

In her fairy tale La Belle et la Bête, Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve shows the age of the main character directly, “Despite being 14 only...”

10. Natascha McElhone (Juliet’s mother, Lady Capulet)

William Shakespeare didn’t indicate the precise age of his character but it can be calculated by her phrase, “By my count, I was your mother much upon these years that you are now a maid.” It’s known that Juliet hadn’t turned 14 yet, which means that Lady Capulet was around 27.

11. Clark Gable (Rhett Butler)

At the beginning of Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind novel, Rhett Butler was about 33 years old.

12. Colin Firth (Mr. Darcy)

The age of Jane Austen’s main character in her novel Pride and Prejudice can be learned by his phrase, “Such I was, from 8 to 8 and 20.”
