What Our 14 Favorite Game of Thrones Stars Are Doing Now

All of our imaginations were captured by HBO’s fantasy adventure series Game of Thrones and the mythical land of Westeros during its run on TV from 2011-2019. And whichever characters we supported, we are all curious to see what these incredible actors have gone on to do since Game of Thrones’ reign ended.

We at Bright Side are big fans of this exciting series and the talented cast who took us on a journey for years. That’s why we’ve decided to check up on what our favorites have been up to since the show’s finale.

1. Maisie Williams

Maisie Williams was a fan favorite on our screens as Arya Stark, which was her acting debut, as she was only a teenager. Now in her 20s, Maisie has worked on many other projects. Recently, she starred as Jordan in the FX series Pistol — her character is a punk pioneer who styled the British band the Sex Pistols, and a muse of fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.

2. Sophie Turner

Sophie Turner also made her acting debut in her role of Sansa Stark in the series. She has been very busy since the show ended. In her personal life, she married Joe Jonas in 2019 and their daughter was born in 2020. Professionally, she joined the X-Men universe, portraying Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix.

3. Kit Harington

Kit Harington had a long acting career before he won the role of Jon Snow in the series. Since the show ended, he has married Rose Leslie (who he met on Game of Thrones) and become a father. He has also been busy acting, such as playing Michael in Modern Love, a series about relationships, love and human connection.

4. Peter Dinklage

Peter Dinklage won both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for playing Tyrion Lannister. And he recently got to show off his acting and singing abilities as the title role in Cyrano. The film is about a man who is too shy to woo the woman he loves, so he helps another man do so by writing love letters.

5. Gwendoline Christie

Gwendoline Christie took to the stage after Game of Thrones. She portrayed Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare at the Bridge Theatre in London. She took on a small character in The Personal History of David Copperfield and has many other projects coming up, including a turn in the Netflix series about Wednesday Addams.

6. Emilia Clarke

The Mother of Dragons herself has become a movie star both during and after her time on Game of Thrones. Her recent work includes Last Christmas, a film whose story is by Emma Thompson, about a woman who discovers the true meaning of giving.

7. Lena Headey

Lena Headey has been busy since she hung up Cersei Lannister’s robes for the last time. She has somehow had time to act in multiple other TV series! She also recently played Scarlet in the thriller film Gunpowder Milkshake.

8. Natalie Dormer

Natalie Dormer has left Margaery Tyrell well behind her for her latest role. As Alex in the fantasy crime-drama Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, she has swapped Westeros for 1930s Los Angeles.

9. Thomas Brodie-Sangster

Thomas Brodie-Sangster may well still be known to us as sweet little boy Sam in popular British rom-com Love Actually, but he is also very recognizable as Jojen Reed. Since then, he has stunned us as chess champion Benny Watts in the wildly popular series The Queen’s Gambit. And he even reunited with fellow Game of Thrones alum Maisie Williams, when he played band manager Malcolm McLaren in Pistol.

10. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Jaime Lannister started as an antihero, but slowly he began to earn a heroic title. Nikolaj himself has been taking on new roles too. Recently he not only starred in, but also wrote the screenplay for the movie Against the Ice. He had to dust off his heroism for the role, too, as it tells the story of two explorers who must fight to survive after they’re left behind in ice-covered Greenland.

11. Nathalie Emmanuel

Game of Thrones’ own Missandei has been building a strong career since leaving Westeros. She stared as Maya in the Hulu adaptation of the romantic comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral. She also joined the Fast & Furious universe and has many other projects in the pipeline.

12. Isaac Hempstead Wright

Isaac Hempstead Wright himself was only 11 when he started acting, and to this day he remains good friends with his fellow Starks Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner. He took a small break from acting after Game of Thrones, but returned in 2021 in the sci-fi thriller Voyagers, about a team of astronauts.

13. Alfie Allen

Alfie Allen has also been very busy since the show’s finale. He has done a diverse range of work, from true-crime series White House Farm, to his role in the British comedy film How to Build a Girl about a teenager who grows up to become a music journalist.

14. Jack Gleeson

Jack Gleeson once said he didn’t plan to continue acting once he finished Game of Thrones. In fact, he wanted to study and get a PhD. Luckily for all his fans, this hasn’t quite been true, and he has done a few roles since, including the comedy film Rebecca’s Boyfriend.

Who was your favorite GoT character? Have you seen any of their other work since, and what would you recommend? Tell us in the comments.
