Pregnancy truly isn’t easy, and sometimes women have a difficult time dealing with the postpartum effects. However, creating an entire little “mini-you” inside is worth all the struggles that seem unbearable at the moment. And it’s no doubt that, while pregnant, you might experience cravings for all sorts of foods — a study finds that women actually crave mostly pickles and ice cream during this beautiful experience.

Bright Side is providing you with a list of icons who shared their pregnancy journey — along with the foods that they loved eating most — in hopes of encouraging other moms in the world.

1. Gigi Hadid

During her pregnancy, Gigi Hadid kept 2 journals, one of which was a “good journal” and the other one, “bad.” She wrote in the good one for the memories, and the bad one was for her to record her anxiety, like whether she was going to be a good mom throughout her journey of parenthood. She also had sketch pads where she would water-color sketch and sometimes write in them too.

One major craving she had was “everything bagels” and marble cake with chocolate buttercream, and then chocolate chip buttercream inside, which made her genuinely cry with happiness.

2. Rihanna

Before Rihanna was pregnant, she enjoyed eating baked potatoes topped with caviar and didn’t like desserts very much. But during her pregnancy, she generally craves more sweets, more specifically, a lot of tangerines with some salt on top: “It has to be with salt and only with salt because in Barbados we take our fruits to the ocean and soak them. It really is a thing.”

Rihanna also doesn’t let her pregnancy disturb her sense of style and positivity — she claims that her body is doing incredible things now, and she won’t be ashamed to show off her growing belly.

3. Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner wanted to share her second pregnancy experience with all moms who might be going through the same thing. She says that postpartum has been very hard, and it hasn’t been easy mentally and physically. Her personal experience of it has been harder than with her daughter, Stormi, and she wants to share, “It’s okay not to be okay.”

Jenner said she’s been craving both sweet and salty foods during her second pregnancy: “Frozen yogurt and In-N-Out, always.” She would also eat a range of snacks, like candy.

4. Katy Perry

Katy Perry had some doubts about her pregnancy journey — she says she didn’t believe that maternity was on her side, and she didn’t know what to do when it came to crying and sadness. She needed to reason with those feelings in order to enjoy the presence of her baby.

Perry craved a couple of foods during her pregnancy, one of which was ice pops, claiming, “Only heavily pregnant women will know.” She also longed for bagels, avocado toast, pickles, dried mango, burritos, and tabasco sauce, which she carried in her purse.

5. Cardi B

During her first pregnancy, Cardi B was very excited to begin motherhood — she claims that it brings her joy and that her baby brought her so much happiness. However, after giving birth, her expectations were nowhere near met. She says it was much more painful than what people say.

Her pregnancy made her crave foods that she never loved at all, like red Doritos. Cardi dipped them in sour cream, cheese, and guacamole; and desired them greatly, even after eating her limit of junk food for the day.

6. Ciara

Ciara has been very positive during her pregnancy, saying that moms should “push through it and be strong.” When she worked, her adrenaline rose so much that she sometimes forgot that she was carrying a whole human in her belly and felt very good.

Surprisingly enough, Ciara craved water with lemon during pregnancy and had a few moments where she would drink water without lemon. She also loved to eat healthy foods, such as an acai bowl and huevos rancheros.

7. Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis has 2 children, and her pregnancy experience with each child was different. With her first child, she didn’t have many disturbances, except for craving vinegar-based foods, such as sauerkraut and pickles. “I couldn’t get enough vinegar. Greek chopped salad: vinegar.”

With her second child, she couldn’t eat meat, even though she loves steak, but she could eat eggs all day.

8. Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried says she had some trouble with her second birth — the baby was all right, but it was very painful for her and led to some trauma. Seyfried was frightened that she would experience postpartum depression, but, thankfully enough, she was very strong, and it was nothing she couldn’t handle.

As for the foods she enjoyed most, Seyfried craved anything that was made out of flour, butter, and sugar — especially butter. But also cottage cheese, which she enjoyed eating alone rather than in public.

9. Ginnifer Goodwin

Ginnifer Goodwin felt like she had been pregnant for 4 years during her first pregnancy, but throughout her second, she lost track of the weeks. Now she has multiple tasks and no matter how busy her schedule gets, she says she is doing very well, and her strength really does inspire us.

Her biggest craving during her second pregnancy was banana peppers, while with her first, it was jalapeños.

10. Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba loves to feel glamorous at all times, but she didn’t feel that way while she was pregnant because she moped around and most of her clothes didn’t fit. With her third child, she felt sick in the first trimester and experienced the constant pressure in her belly, which she always held.

When it comes to cravings, Alba always ate Japanese food, and she could only dream of desserts because she didn’t want to gain weight. She also desired “all the shaved ice with ice cream on the bottom.”

What is your experience with pregnancy? Did you crave certain foods like some of these celebrities?

Rihanna, the multi-talented Barbadian icon, is not just a star on stage but also a philanthropist at heart. Her charitable endeavors began at the age of 18 with the creation of the Believe Foundation, aimed at assisting children with terminal illnesses. She later founded the Clara Lionel Foundation, extending her philanthropic reach globally. From organizing the annual Diamond Ball gala to becoming the first global ambassador for the Global Partnership for Education, Rihanna’s humanitarian efforts have been widely recognized, including an award from the NAACP.
