According to statistics, 1 in 3 girls becomes pregnant before turning 20. And even though welcoming a kid into the family is a big responsibility, some parents are willing to give their best to raise their child the right way, proving that a mother’s love is truly selfless.

We at Bright Side admire the perseverance of these 10 celebrities who became mothers at a young age and proved that you don’t have to give up on your dreams to be a good parent.

1. Sofia Vergara

Not only did Sofia Vergara become a mom to her son, Manolo, when she was only 19 years old, but she also became a single parent at the age of 21. For her, one of the perks of having a baby at a young age is that she had the energy to do and achieve anything she put her mind to.

She used that to her advantage, and she put all of her efforts into acting and raising Manolo in a way that he would never lack anything. He’s now a successful 30-year-old man, and when people compliment Vergara on her son, she says that it makes all the sacrifices worthwhile.

2. Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner always wanted to be a young mom, and that’s what she did. She welcomed her daughter, Stormi, with her partner, Travis Scott, when she was only 20 years old and didn’t care what everyone else would think about it. “This is what I want to do, and if people accept it or don’t accept it, then I’m okay with every outcome.”

3. Brandy

Brandy became a successful singer at the age of 15 when she released her first self-titled album. In 2002, when she was 23 years old, she gave birth to her daughter, Sy’rai. That period of Brandy’s life was very challenging for her, as she had to take care of a child and find a way to figure herself out. But Brandy found help in her friends and family and secured her child by surrounding her with good people while she took the time to work on herself.

4. Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon, in one interview, revealed that she was terrified when she became a parent to her daughter, Ava. At the age of 23, she had no idea how to balance work and motherhood: “I was just like every other mom and dad trying to figure it out.” And she certainly did! Today Ava is a 22-year-old model and Witherspoon believes that every sacrifice she made as a parent was worth it.

5. Candace Cameron Bure

Candace and Valeri Bure started their family at a fairly young age. In 1998, when Bure was only 22 years old, she gave birth to her daughter, Natasha. She is now 23 years old and is an actress, model, YouTuber, and social influencer.

6. Victoria Beckham

Even though Victoria Beckham is a prestigious designer with many career accomplishments to be proud of, to her, being a mother is the greatest achievement in her life. Beckham had her first child, Brooklyn, when she was only 24 years old and proved that starting a family at a young age is not always a bad idea.

Brooklyn is now 23 years old and works as a model and photographer, and recently, he even started his own cooking show.

7. Jamie Lynn Spears

The singer and actress opened up about the challenges she faced about becoming a mother at age 17. She revealed that she used to be insecure because she was always the youngest mother in the room, but in time, she realized that being a good and competent mother has nothing to do with age. “I have met some of the most wonderful amazing moms who are anywhere from 20 years old to 50 years old, so young or old, love is all it’s really about.”

8. Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson was 24 years old when she had her first child, Ryder. But even though it might seem that 24 is not that young for someone to start a family, at the time, Hudson felt like she was a teen mom. But there’s a bright side to everything, and now that Ryder is much older than his siblings, he can always pitch in and help his mother watch them.

9. Adele

Adele suffered from postpartum depression when she gave birth to her son when she was 24. At the time, even though she loved her baby, she hated being a mom. What helped Adele get through this tough period was taking an afternoon once a week for herself, and she started talking openly about her feelings with her friends.

10. Hilary Duff

Hilary was 24 years old when she had her first child, and even though she felt she was ready to be a mom, she constantly was hearing comments like, “You’re a baby having a baby.” But that didn’t make Duff feel any different about her decision. The hardest part for her about being a young mom was that she felt really alone, as her friends were mostly out partying while she raised her child.
