10 Hollywood Couples That Show the Strength of Their Family Bonds, Even After Their Breakups

It might be exceptional, but there are couples who know how to put aside their personal differences after a divorce and raise their children together. Take a look at Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony. They manage to work as a team, picking their kids up from school, and sharing important celebrations together.

Here at Bright Side, we love to see how these couples cope with breakups and continue to put their admiration for their ex-partners and love for their children above any kind of resentment.

1. Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr

Despite the end of their marriage, they support each other as parents of their son and as a family. Their son Flynn gets all their attention and Kerr recognizes that she’s blessed to have such a wonderful father for her son. And after the divorce, Bloom claimed, “We love each other and are going to be in each other’s life for the rest of our lives.” Love has won in their case.

2. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony

After their divorce, they still perform together, like they did during the Latin Grammy Awards in 2016 (top picture). In addition to maintaining professional admiration for each other, both artists remain united in raising their children. They dedicate messages of affection toward each other on social media, like on Father’s Day when JLo thanked her ex for their 2 “beautiful coconuts.”

3. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner

After 10 years of marriage, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner started a separation process. They didn’t give up immediately and the actors have remained in contact and for a time. Affleck even continued to live in a guesthouse at the family residence, always for the sake of their 3 children. In 2017 they filed for divorce, even though it’s normal to see them picking up their kids from school or cheering them on when they play soccer.

4. Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow

They separated after 10 years of marriage and share 2 kids together. Paltrow considers Martin to be like a brother and insists that they are very familial. They wanted their kids to be as unscathed as possible after their divorce, so they strive to keep their bond strong. They enjoy spending time all together and even her current husband is invited to their family brunches.

5. Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman

They share a lovely relationship that includes all of Kopelman’s family members. After they divorced in 2016, they decided to put parenting first and tag-team raising their 2 daughters. The exes spend every special date they can together as a united family. As an example, on Mother’s Day in 2017, Barrymore shared an endearing selfie with her ex and a picture with her ex-mother-in-law and ex-sister-in-law, calling them “the moms and loves of my life.”

6. Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon

They remained friends, even their marriage ended, mostly because they were very young when they met. Witherspoon has admitted that she wouldn’t change anything about their marriage. Their youth did not prevent them from approaching their separation in a mature way, and they worked together so that their children could grow up in a united family. Seeing their pictures, there’s no doubt that they’re raising perfect heirs.

7. Heidi Klum and Seal

Seal and Heidi Klum are dedicated parents of 4 children that they still share after their divorce. As Seal claimed, Klum is a great mother and is still being the most wonderful woman in the world to him. Klum has always praised her ex for his great parenting skills. They share a feeling of deep affection for each other that can clearly be seen when they meet up together to spend an afternoon in the park with their daughters.

8. Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas

They had a long and strong relationship that lasted until 2014 when they decided to put an end to their marriage in a loving and friendly manner. Nevertheless, their bond as parents for their daughter Stella del Carmen remained strong. They also worked together on the film Automata during their divorce proceedings, and Banderas admitted that he’ll always love her.

9. Anna Faris and Chris Pratt

When the love ended between them, they opted to remain great friends and surround their son with love. In the very same announcement of their separation, they promised that they’d always cherish their time together. Their relationship is so smooth that Faris claims she talks with the father of her child every day. Since there’s no resentment between them, the actress congratulated Pratt when he announced his new engagement with Katherine Schwarzenegger, saying she felt really happy for them.

10. Bruce Willis and Demi Moore

They met, got married, and became pregnant in just 4 months. After a decade together and the birth of 3 daughters, they separated in 2000. Demi Moore thinks they did a magnificent job of making sure that their children knew they were loved. The actors share an intimate friendship for the sake of their daughters and practice family bonding in pajamas.

Do you think it’s easy to remain friends with your ex for the sake of your kids? Do you have any advice on how to maintain a smooth relationship after a breakup? We’d love to know more about it.

That's one of the good examples celebrities can give to their fans. As someone who was raised by a single mother, I always admire parents who STILL are parents to their kids after their divorce :)

My parents divorced when I was 18 and I grew up with my mother. Even though I didn't see my father much (he was living in a different country) my parents had a quite good relationship...
