11 Soul-Stirring Life Stories of 2016 That Prove Kindness Will Save the World

All you need is love...Love and kindness. This is something not a single person on this planet could say ’no’ to. Love helps us fight the worst diseases and kindness helps us get through the most challenging life situations. When one’s heart is filled with joy and happiness, there’s always a reason to live.

We here at Bright Side strongly believe that when it comes to kindness, there isn’t a deed that’s too small or insignificant. Every selfless good deed gives our crazy world another chance to become a better place. We would like to share some real-life stories of those who think — and more importantly — live in accordance with such principles.

A cat lover shared her home with 1,100 rescue cats

Lynea Lattanzi, a woman of good heart and generous soul, started fostering cats all the way back in 1992. Being a vet technician herself, she takes care of her cats and then tries to find new families for them. Lynea founded her ’no-cage, no kill sanctuary for feral and abandoned cats’ and ran it solo for years without any financial help. Now, the sanctuary has its sponsors, veterinary technicians and cat-loving volunteers to keep the project going. Lynea currently shares her house with more than 1,000 cats, and each and every one of them is healthy, well-fed and very much loved.

A cleaning company offers free cleaning services for women with cancer

Debbie Sardone, the founder of the company, had this idea when one of her clients called to tell her that she had to cancel the cleaning services from that time onwards because she needed to save money for her cancer treatment. That was the very day Debbie made the decision to provide women who fight cancer with free cleaning services. She believes that this way women will be able to focus on their treatment process and not worry about the house keeping. Starting form 2006 the company cleaned over 19 000 women’s homes, which had cost them around $5,5 million.

A 12-year-old girl fighting a rare aging disease became best friends with a Weightlifter

Lindsay suffers from Progeria, a rare genetic disorder that ages the body 8-10 times faster than normal. David is an ex-marine-turned-powerlifter nicknamed “The Beast“. How did these people’s paths crossed? Well, they met at Relentless, a sponsored powerlifting event to benefit children with rare diseases and made friends at once. Now they are just inseparable. ”Lindsay became my lil sis since day one," Douglas says. “There are no words to describe how I feel about her. She has pulled me out of rough spots just by thinking of her. That is a priceless gift.”

A woman took a stray dog home. It changed the lives of both.

In April 2015 Valia Orfanidou spotted a stray dog in the suburbs of Athens, Greece. The dog was in a very poor condition, but the girl didn’t hesitate to approach her and do her best to help. It wasn’t all that easy, as Petra (the dog’s name) was suffering from many diseases and obviously had problems with trusting people. Valia, however, refused to give up on her and only a few months later the dog was completely transformed! Loving, friendly and, above all, thankful. Talk about the power of love...

Every week this man bought a cup of coffee for a homeless guy, who then ’paid’ him back

After having breakfast in his favorite cafe, Joe Wilson used to stop and have a small talk with a homeless guy, Daniel, who sold magazines on the nearby street corner. When it was cold, Joe would buy Daniel a cup of hot coffee. One Saturday morning Joe came to the same cafe for breakfast, as usual. He, however, was in for quite a surprise as he was about to pay the bill, but the waitress told him that his breakfast had already been paid for. It turned out that Daniel had recently won 20 pounds on a scratch card lottery and decided to thank Joe this way for always being supportive of him.

This zoologist took an orphaned baby elephant into her house

This baby elephant had almost drowned while trying to cross a flooded river with its herd. He was found by the rangers and brought to Roxy. They named the baby elephant Moyo.

Moyo isn’t much different from a puppy — he is just as playful, curious about everything around him and, most importantly, he is now very much loved and cared for at his new home.

Argentinian football player made this Afghan boy’s dream come true

A photo of Murtaza Ahmadi, 5, became a real internet sensation. The photo showed the boy in his handmade Lionel Messi shirt made of a plastic bag. The story of Murtaza went viral on social media and was seen by Messi, the footbal celebrity, himself. Messi then decided to give his young fan an authentic T-shirt with his very own autograph, which was promptly delivered by the UNICEF.

A firefighter saved a Husky that fell through ice in Boston Harbor

A Boston firefighter, Sean Coyle, was courageous enough to approach Sylvie, a 13 year old Husky, using a snow sled on a thin ice. As a result, the dog and her owner are now happily reunited.

A student helped a man get through a panic attack

Godfrey Coutto, a student from Ontario, Canada, was on a bus when suddenly a man called Robert approached him, took Godfrey’s hand and sat right next to him. The young man freaked out at first, but he soon realized that Robert simply needed help. As it turned out, Robert is deaf and suffers cerebral palsy. The jam-packed bus frightened Robert and that is why he needed someone’s support to help him through such a stressful situation.

A motorhead saved an abandoned dog

On the way to his father’s house Brandon spotted a truck driver beating up a tiny white terrier on the roadside. He instantly approached the poor dog, picked him up and wrapped him in his own jacket. Brandon named his new friend Mr.Davidson and their friendship has only been growing stronger ever since.

This woman gives abandoned children a new home

Even though Cori Salchert had overcome a serious disease, it had still taken its toll on her as she could no longer work as a nurse. Nonetheless, this courageous woman with a big heart came up with a heart-warming idea to take care of children with life-limiting or terminal diagnoses, whose parents abandoned them. Ever since then she and her husband have devoted their lives to helping terminally ill children.
