Many of the dresses that celebrities wear on different occasions remain in the memories of fans for a long time and become a part of popular culture. But few people know that many of the outfits celebrities wear have their own unique stories attached to them.

We at Bright Side remember the best outfits worn by actresses, models, and singers, and learned more about the details that hide behind their gorgeous dresses and suits. And in the bonus section, we’ll tell you what celebrities do in order not to wrinkle their expensive clothes on the way to an event.

Barbra Streisand didn’t take flashing lights into account when she was choosing her outfit.

In 1969, Barbra Streisand won her Oscar for her role in Funny Girl. But it wasn’t just the award that made her famous that day. Her suit was a hit and made it onto the list of the best and the worst outfits in the history of the Academy Awards.

As it turned out, the outfit was completely transparent under the stage lights. In one of her interviews, the actress said that she had no idea this was going to happen and she felt really awkward.

Rihanna worried people would laugh at her and didn’t want to get out of the car.

In 2015, Rihanna arrived at the Met Gala wearing a yellow dress. At the end of July 2020, she revealed she didn’t feel very comfortable in the dress and said, “I remember being so scared getting out of that car cause I felt like I was doing too much. I was driving past the red carpet and I was seeing, like, gowns and I thought, ’I’m a clown and people are gonna laugh at me.’”

Eva Longoria had her dress on backward and didn’t even know it.

Once when attending the Cannes Film Festival, Eva Longoria wore a mini-dress with a very low neckline that almost reached her belly button. Years later, the actress shared a photo from the festival on her Instagram and commented, “Flashback to my first year in Cannes 12 years ago! I look like a baby! Fun fact: I had my dress on backward. Yep. Backward and I didn’t know it!”

Kim Kardashian couldn’t even sit down because of her tight corset.

One year ago, Kim Kardashian shocked everyone with her “wet” dress by Mugler. The designer wanted to make her look like a girl that had just gotten out of the ocean.

Kardashian said that she needed the help of 3 people to put on the dress. And the corset was a huge challenge for her: Kardashian told Vogue journalists that she could hang out and talk to people but she wasn’t able to sit. Additionally, she asked those around her to wish her good luck at the event because she wasn’t going to be able to go to the bathroom for about 4 hours.

Geri Halliwell sewed a towel to a Gucci dress and made a splash.

In the spring of 2020, the former Spice Girls member shared a story of how her iconic dress with the British flag was created. She wore it to a music award ceremony. According to the singer, she was offered a black Gucci dress that looked like Marilyn Monroe’s swimsuit. But it wasn’t spicy enough for the singer, so she decided to wear something with the flag on it.

Halliwell bought an ordinary towel with the British flag on it and her sister sewed it to the Gucci dress. The singer was really nervous about it but the next morning she found out that all the newspapers had written about her.

Julianne Moore couldn’t get her dress off to go to the bathroom.

In 2015, Julianne Moore was nominated for an Oscar for her role in Still Alice. She wore a Karl Lagerfeld dress that took a team of 27 people to make.

In one of her interviews, the actress said that when it came time to go to the bathroom, she realized she couldn’t take the dress off. She then had to hold it in until she got her award. When she got the Oscar, she posed for photographers and after that, her managers helped her take the dress off.

Famous designers didn’t want to dress Salma Hayek.

In 1997, Salma Hayek wore an Armani dress to the Oscars. The actress remembers that day well because, at the time, famous designers weren’t very eager to dress a not-so-famous Mexican actress.

Hayek wanted to look different from everyone else, so she desired to wear a beautiful tiara. But her manager, stylist, and press agents tried to convince her not to do it. They said she was insane and she’d look ridiculous. But she still decided to wear a tiara and went to the ceremony. She says that she set the trend for wearing tiaras.

Sarah Jessica Parker wore a dress with her friend’s autograph.

Sarah Jessica Parker and American designer Oscar de la Renta are very old friends. As a sign of respect for her friend, the actress asked the designer to sign her dress, “It was my idea.” Parker revealed that he would never have done it in a million years because he was far too modest.

Kylie Jenner scratched her legs with the sharp parts of her outfit.

In 2016, Kylie Jenner attended the Met Gala for the first time. The silver Balmain dress that she wore was one of the most amazing numbers, but it was really uncomfortable to wear.

After the event, Jenner posed for a photo where her legs were seen covered in small scratches. She wrote, “When your dress made you bleed and your feet are purple.” But she claims it was all worth it.

Sharon Stone wore a turtleneck to the Oscars because the delivery guy drove over her dress.

In April, Sharon Stone recalled a funny situation that happened to her at the 1996 Oscar ceremony. At the time, she was nominated for Casino. Vera Wang had made an amazing pink dress for her. But just one day before the ceremony, a delivery guy accidentally ruined the dress. The box containing the dress fell out of his truck and he drove in reverse and drove right over the dress, leaving a black mark on it.

Ellen Mirojnick, the costume designer for Basic Instinct, helped the actress figure out a plan B. She checked her wardrobe and advised her to wear a black Gap turtleneck, a Valentino dress, and an Armani jacket. Stone added a gardenia flower she took from her garden.

But her drama didn’t end there. Stone’s mother noticed a hole in the armpit and this was when the star realized she wouldn’t win the award. And she was right.

Bonus: the lengths some stars go to in order to avoid wrinkles

Jennifer Aniston showed fans how she was sitting in the car to keep her dress wrinkle-free. She commented, “No wrinkles...harder than it looks!”

Can you share any funny clothing-related stories you have?

Rihanna’s 10-month-old son stole the spotlight in a candid video where he sweetly interrupts her workout. The video, which has been watched 27 million times, shows the singer in gym clothes, humorously captioned, “Look who don’t want mommy to workout.” A source close to the couple shared that both parents are “very happy and focused on their baby boy.”
