Dutch model Lara Stone has only one tiny imperfection — there’s a gap between her front teeth. However, she hasn’t rushed to the dentist to make her teeth look “perfect” since she’s managed to embrace this little quirk of hers. Because of Lara’s influence, some people have even opted for cosmetic orthodontic procedures to purposely widen the gap between their front teeth.

At first glance, Nastya Kumarova looks like a beautiful and fragile porcelain doll. But in reality, she has albinism, a condition where there’s not enough pigment in her eyes, hair, and skin. However, this condition didn’t stop her from becoming a model with a magnificent look.

Alba Parejo was born with over 500 birthmarks on her skin. To correct some of them, she has gone through 30 surgeries which has left her with lots of scars all over her body. Though her peers called her a “monster,” she bravely decided to pursue a modelling career and share her story with the rest of the world. Today, Alba is a professional model who is featured on billboards, on buses, and in newspapers.

22-year-old model with Down syndrome, Madeline Stuart, is a really brave and strong person who is not afraid of her own disease. To make her dream of being on the catwalk come true, she completely changed her lifestyle and lost 44 pounds. Her efforts weren’t useless — in 2015, she became the second model with Down syndrome to walk the runway at New York Fashion Week.
4. Kelly Knox
Born without a left forearm, Kelly has refused to wear a prosthetic as an aid since the age of 7. Instead, she prefers to use it as an accessory that expresses her personality and shows her identity to others. Knox is trying to change the way society perceives disabled people by showing that disabilities can actually be cool, fashionable, and beautiful.

A 14-year-old girl with vitiligo was frequently bullied at school until she met Winnie Harlow, a fellow model with the same disease. After this meeting, April learned to embrace her own skin and its “love spots” and even became a model herself. Melanie is a girl who suffers from a rare genetic condition that affects the growth of her teeth, hair, nails and even small bones. But this didn’t stop her from building a successful modeling career. It all started for her when she was chosen to appear in a video for the German metal band Rammstein. Since then, she’s become a very popular model and actress.

On her Instagram page, Yazemeenah calls herself a “time traveler,” and if you take a closer look at her photos, you’ll understand why. Born in 1955, she’s a living proof that age truly is just a number. The only thing you need to do, according to her, is to take care of yourself and maintain a healthy diet.
