Many women believe that the most important dress in their life is a wedding dress. But the way the dress looks — classic or unusual really depends on the bride’s personality. And celebrities often choose very unusual dresses.

We at Bright Side decided to take a look at some of the original wedding dresses that celebrities chose because they wanted their weddings to be a big fashion event.

1. Victoria Swarovski’s dress

The wedding dress of this bride weighed 100 pounds. And it’s because she’s not just any girl, she is Victoria Swarovski. Of course, she couldn’t stop herself from decorating her dress with crystals. But nobody expected such a big number — 500,000. And the dress was so heavy. It was made by Filipino designer Michael Cinco.

Victoria says that she just gave the designer several hundred thousand crystals and asked him to make a simple dress.

Michael Cinco received the order just 3 months before the ceremony, but he managed to prepare the dress on time.

The wedding dress looked amazing but it was really hard for the bride because it weighed a lot, she was really hot the whole time and the red carpet leading to the church had to be removed because the bride just couldn’t walk on it — the hem was constantly getting stuck on it all the time and several people ended up having to carry it.

2. Dita von Teese’s dress

The Queen of Burlesque getting married to the edgiest rock singer Marilyn Manson — how could this wedding be classic or traditional? The bride’s dress, from designer Vivienne Westwood, was a bright magenta color that totally fit the style of the ceremony. It was dark and gothic in order to surprise their guests.

3. Yoko Ono’s dress

In the 1960s, the world was in the middle of a fashion revolution. Young people were giving up on big dresses and ceremonies and stars were no exception. For example, John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s wedding ceremony only took 10 minutes. He was wearing light jeans and a jacket. Yoko Ono was wearing a mini-dress, sneakers, a fedora, and big sunglasses. The white color of her dress was the only thing that reminded anyone that there was a wedding happening.

After the ceremony, the couple went to Paris, then to Amsterdam, where they had their famous Bed-In For Peace. Later, a photo of the couple appeared on the cover of John Lennon’s solo album The Wedding Album.

4. Christina Aguilera’s dress

At the wedding of Christina Aguilera and musician Jordan Bratman, the bride had 3 different wedding dresses. It was probably because she wouldn’t have been able to walk normally in the biggest dress that cost $30,000. The dress itself looked pretty amazing.

5. Gwen Stefani’s dress

Gwen Stefani’s dress was very classic at the top but the lower part was pretty unusual. She chose an ombre-style dress for her wedding with musician Gavin Rossdale in 2002.

Designer John Galliano created the wedding dress with the big pink hem.

6. Isabeli Fontana’s dress

The famous Brazilian Victoria’s Secret model, Isabeli Fontana, looked amazing in her tropical-themed dress for her beach wedding. The semi-transparent dress with embroidery was created by Agua de Coco, a Brazilian company that makes swimsuits.

The makeup and hairstyle, which looked as if she had just come back from the sea, made the look more complete.

7. Madonna’s dress

The dress Madonna wore in 1985 to her wedding with Sean Penn was a bit edgy. The asymmetric veil on the black beret, the bright purple ribbon on the waist — this dress didn’t look classic at all. Much later, after her divorce from Penn, Madonna sold her dress at an auction for more than $80,000.

8. Avril Lavigne’s dress

Despite her rebellious temper, Avril Lavigne wore a classic white dress at her first wedding. But when she was marrying Chad Robert Kroeger, she decided to wear the dress she really wanted — a black gothic dress. She also had a bouquet of black artificial roses.

9. Cindy Crawford’s dress

For her second wedding, Cindy Crawford chose a really simple, yet very beautiful dress. The ceremony was on the beach and she wanted the groom to be excited to see her. She wore a slip dress that looked perfect on her body.

What kind of wedding dress did you have? Do you prefer something more classic or unusual?
