It’s not uncommon for Hollywood stars to showcase their skills in various businesses outside of their film careers, such as launching cosmetic or lingerie lines. Jennifer Garner, however, has taken a unique path by purchasing the farm where her mother grew up.

The Hollywood star’s upbringing was rooted in conservative values. Her father was a chemical engineer, and her mother was a homemaker. Growing up, Jennifer and her two sisters had strict rules to abide by. For instance, they were forbidden from wearing makeup, painting their nails, or getting their ears pierced during their teenage years.

Despite the strict rules, Jennifer has fond memories of her childhood. She often laughs about how she and her sisters looked back then, with similar haircuts and ears that stuck out.

Jennifer Garner enrolled in university in 1990 with a major in Chemistry, but later switched to theater. Following graduation, she began her acting career in movies. It was her portrayal of Sydney Bristow in the series Alias that catapulted her to fame. For her outstanding performance, she was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama and was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award four times.

Garner’s role as Dr. Eve Saks in the critically acclaimed drama Dallas Buyers Club alongside Matthew McConaughey is also unforgettable. Her impressive portrayal earned her a nomination for a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Jennifer Garner’s initial husband was Scott Foley, whom she encountered while filming Felicity in 1998. Nevertheless, the pair parted ways after 5 years of marriage. Later, from 2005 until 2018, the actress was wedded to actor Ben Affleck, with whom she shares 2 daughters and a son.

Jennifer Garner’s experience as a mother made her understand the significance of timely child development. She found the energy to care for not only her own family but also for other children. The actress became an ambassador for the non-profit organization, Save the Children USA, which aims to enhance the quality of children’s lives worldwide.

Jennifer has been on the board of trustees for the organization since 2014 and has actively advocated for national literacy and early education initiatives. She frequently visits families who are part of the Early Steps to School Success program to support their progress.

Jennifer Garner is passionate about promoting proper nutrition for children, and has taken it upon herself to produce healthy food. As the co-founder and chief brand manager of Once Upon a Farm, an organic, fresh baby food company, she is dedicated to providing quality nutrition for young children.

Interestingly, the food is produced on a farm with a personal history for Garner. It is the same farm where her mother grew up, and where she herself visited as a child, fishing in the local pond with her uncle. The farm has become a place where Garner’s commitment to improving children’s nutrition and honoring her family’s legacy have come together.

Jennifer Garner’s grandparents acquired a plot of land in Oklahoma in 1936. Being on a tight budget, they haggled all day to get $20 off the advertised price. Ultimately, they became the proud owners of a small house with two rooms and 20 acres of land.

In those years, they grew pecans, lettuce, radishes, and potatoes at the farm. However, the land was passed down between family members, eventually falling into disuse. In 2017, Jennifer Garner purchased the farm to revive it.

Jennifer made a decision to revive the farm and make it productive again. In 2018, she co-founded Once Upon a Farm, a company that grows fresh and organic produce for baby food.

To help her with this mission, the actress enlisted the help of her uncle Robert and aunt Janet, who used to own the farm and decided to support their niece in her new venture.

The farm quickly flourished into a thriving business. Jennifer expressed her joy on Instagram, writing, “Look, Mom, your farm has come to life! 700 blueberry bushes, 50 fuyu persimmon trees, 3 cows (as grass management and pets), 2 farmers (uncle Robert and aunt Janet) and 1 farmer wannabe — yours truly.”

As the farm expanded, it also welcomed new residents, including a flock of chickens that Jennifer and her team raised. Although she’s not the first celebrity to enjoy the farm life, since we’ve also seen Arnold Schwarzenegger to enjoy the company of his beloved donkeys.

Jennifer Garner shares her rural experiences on her Instagram page, playfully referring to herself as “farmer Jen.” Her fans can see her driving a tractor or singing to her crops.

According to Farmer Jen, all plants need love and attention. She once posted a video kissing her plants and wrote, “Our blends are filled with the freshest fruits, yummiest vegetables, and... love.”

Jennifer Garner actively promotes her organic fruit and vegetable business on her social media platforms. She frequently shares recipes for nutritious meals made from wholesome ingredients. For instance, she recommends replacing conventional chips with kale chips that are not only healthy but also tasty.

These crunchy bites take between 15 to 25 minutes to prepare. To make them, she suggests coating kale leaves in olive oil, adding salt, and optionally sprinkling with grated parmesan. Finally, bake them in the oven at 200°F to perfection. Jennifer loves sharing similar hacks with her fans, and in this article you can find her secrets to naturally glowing skin.

The co-founders of Once Upon a Farm are actively engaged in philanthropic activities. A portion of the sales from the “Farmer Jen’s Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookie” blend was donated to the non-profit organization Save the Children USA, which was previously mentioned.

In one of her blog posts, the actress expressed her commitment to raise funds for those in need through Once Upon a Farm. She also shared that the company aims to provide one million meals to underprivileged children.

According to Jennifer Garner, it’s possible to teach kids to appreciate healthy eating habits from an early age. Her approach is simple: “If you want your kids to grow up loving healthy food, give them healthy food they love.” To help ensure that kids don’t turn their noses up at fruits and veggies, the actress shares clever tips and tricks for making healthy snacks that children will enjoy.

Jennifer Garner’s blog is filled with numerous photos and videos that demonstrate the success of the farm she revived. The celebrity constantly expresses her gratitude to the Earth and her grandparents, Harvey and Violet English, for the land.

Bonus: the dessert recipe by Jennifer’s mother
