Mark Wahlberg Reveals Why He Moved With His Family Away From Hollywood

Mark Wahlberg, a legendary actor and a devoted father of four, recently made a life-changing decision to relocate his family away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Alongside his wife, Rhea Durham, Mark chose to embark on a fresh start, and in a recent candid interview, he shared the details behind this major decision.

In 2022, Wahlberg and his family moved from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, and the 51-year-old actor doesn’t regret this decision one bit. At this stage of his life, Wahlberg’s priorities have changed, and he and his wife are now focused on the well-being and happiness of their children: ’’We moved here to give a better life to our kids,’’ the actor admits.

For Wahlberg, family comes first.

It’s no secret that fatherhood greatly changed Wahlberg; from a Hollywood bad boy, his love for his family turned him into a role-model dad. He’s come a long way from his difficult childhood, growing up in a working-class family as the youngest of nine siblings, and now wants to ensure his kids have everything they want.

“I still want to give my kids all the things I never had. I worked to make sure that I can give them all the things that I thought they would want, the things that I wanted when I was younger. But the most important things are having family and having each other,” Wahlberg confesses.

He can now spend more time at home.

Mark’s four children, Ella, Michael, Brendan, and Grace, played a significant role in the decision to relocate. The actor expressed his dedication to being present at home, and to achieve that, he wanted to be able to work from home as well. Despite spending years in Los Angeles pursuing acting, Mark realized he had only made a few movies during that time, and the time has come to focus on his kids’ talents and interests.

He and his wife wanted to give their kids a chance to pursue their dreams—whether it be his daughter’s passion for equestrianism, his son’s basketball aspirations, or his youngest son’s golfing talents. Moving away from Hollywood seemed like the logical step to create a better environment for their growth.

But he’s also creating new career opportunities.

As part of this transition, Mark bought his Beverly Hills mansion for sale while acquiring two large properties in Las Vegas. However, this move doesn’t mean the end of Mark’s acting and producing career. Wahlberg revealed an exciting plan to build a state-of-the-art studio in Nevada, aiming to create “Hollywood 2.0.”

“We came here to just kind of give ourselves a new look,” he said, adding that there are plenty of new opportunities for them in the city of Las Vegas: “I’m really excited about the future,” Wahlberg says.

As they settle into their new home, their decision to move away from Hollywood could be the key to a truly better life. And Wahlberg is not alone in seeking a quieter existence away from the spotlight. Many of his fellow celebrities opt for a calmer environment on a remote ranch or in a smaller city. This kind of lifestyle gives them more time to focus on family life, which truly matters at the end of the day.
