Upstaging the bride is usually a no-go at most weddings. One woman however decided to go all out for her son’s big day, donning a beautiful blue gown and pairing it with a tiara. The groom’s mom however had a good reason for her choice of clothing.

A groom’s mother decided to steal the show at her son’s big day.

One of the fundamental guidelines for weddings revolves around adhering to the dress code and respecting the unspoken tradition of not overshadowing the bride. In a recent instance, Jodi White, a TikTok user, shared her attire for her son’s wedding on social media. However, her outfit diverged significantly from the conventional attire expected of the groom’s mother.

The woman chose an extravagant princess gown for the wedding.

White showed up in a baby blue sparkly gown reminiscent of a princess’s attire. She completed the look with silver jewelry, white gloves, and she even decided to add a tiara to her wavy blowout. Despite the more extravagant outfit, Jodi White only got praise and compliments when showing off her ensemble to the internet. It turns out the wedding invitation asked people to wear their fanciest attire.

However, no one minded, as the wedding invite urged guests to «upstage the bride».

Jodi White’s son Geoffrey Jones and his partner João anticipated the presence of vibrant personalities at their wedding. Aware of this, the 2 grooms opted to embrace the flamboyance and encouraged their guests to «upstage the bride» through explicit instructions on the wedding invitation.

Desiring a truly familial atmosphere for their wedding, the couple decided to hold the ceremony at their residence in Jonesboro, Georgia. They incorporated White’s two chihuahuas, Bella and Bailey, as their bridesmaids. To officiate the nuptials, Geoffrey’s sister donned a striking hot pink pantsuit and tiara, adding a personal touch to the proceedings.

«All any parent hopes for is their child to be happy,» Jodi White said about her son’s big day. «Knowing that my son found the love of his life and that they share such a special and fun bond has me overjoyed. I was going to find something understated to wear, but when I saw that dress, I just couldn’t help myself ... It was such a fun, beautiful and emotional day for all of us.»

Picking the perfect wedding attire is not always an easy choice. In our previous article, we wrote about a daughter who would have liked to wear her late mom’s wedding dress on her big day, but her dad wasn’t very enthusiastic about the idea.
