“My Whole Face Regime Is Just Soap and Water,” Jennifer Aniston Shares Her Tips for Aging in Reverse

Jennifer Aniston revealed that she’s tired of hearing people say that she looks great for being in her 50s. Known for her timeless beauty, it’s no surprise that people are constantly asking her about her anti-aging secrets. However, the actress has recently expressed frustration with the constant comments about her appearance and the implication that she looks good “for her age.” Her skincare routine is simple yet effective and she openly shared the hacks that help her stay healthy and look young.

She keeps her skincare routine simple.

Although a complicated beauty regime, such as a 10-step Korean beauty routine might transform your skin, most people just don’t have time for it. The award-winning actress leads a very active life and she prefers a low-key skincare routine. “My whole face regime is just soap and water to wake myself up, then some sort of daily moisturizer that’s got SPF in it. It’s quick. I never linger too long anywhere, to be honest; things need to be as easy as possible [for me],” she said.

She doesn’t overwash her face.

Washing your face too often can dry out your skin and might even make it look greasy. The Friends star doesn’t cleanse her face too often to avoid disrupting the skin’s protective barrier and keep natural skin oils intact. “I don’t overwash my face because you don’t want to strip away too much. And then I just put on nourishing things I feel are as organic as possible,” she shared.

She sticks to the same products for years.

It’s not easy to find the products that do wonders for your skin, and when you finally find a lotion or a moisturiser that ticks all the boxes it’s understandable you want to use them all the time. Aniston is no exception, and she admits she’s been using the same moisturizer since she was a teenager. “I’m such a creature of habit. When I went out on my own, that was a staple in my bathroom. I just love it. I have a bottle in my car. It’s in all of my bathrooms. Put it on right out of the shower before you get too dry,” she recommended.

She splashes her face with cold water.

Overly hot water might damage even healthy skin and make it sensitive. Rubbing ice cubes on your face, on the other hand, might make your dark circles less visible, enhance the absorption of other beauty products, and even soften your lips. Aniston says she likes to wash her face with icy water upon waking up to give her skin a refreshed look. “Get a bowl of ice water and splash your face 25 times. It’s an old school trick that Joan Crawford used to do—it just wakes your skin up,” she shared.

She makes sure to stay hydrated.

Drinking enough water is vital for your overall health, but the standard “8 glasses of water a day” might not work for everyone, and it’s better to calculate the right amount of water you need to drink daily. Aniston shared that she starts her day with a glass of hot water. “When I wake up, I’ll make my standard cup of hot water with a slice of lemon in there,” she said. “The best beauty tip I have for people is to sleep and drink water, honestly. Did you know that so few people actually drink water? I’ll get mad at my friend Courteney Cox all the time because she’ll tell me she hasn’t had a sip of water today—and I’m like... are you out of your mind? Water is everything,” she added.
