At 77, Helen Mirren Is the Center of Attention at Cannes, Thanks to a Daring Move

Dame Helen Mirren is proving once again that we’re never too old to experiment with our style. The actress’s latest red carpet appearance at Cannes took our breath away, and everyone is talking about one detail.

She noted, ’’Your life as you get older gets fuller. You get wiser, too, inevitably, because you know more stuff.’’

In fact, Helen recalled her first Cannes event during which her attitude was much different and fashion choice way less daring than her current appearance.

She remembered, ’’The very first time I came to Cannes was so intimidating and terrifying and overwhelming. Now I can kind of laugh at it and enjoy it. I see it as a performance.’’

There are no rules except one.

Time also taught Helen that women should be free to express their beauty and style just the way they desire. She noted, ’’I don’t think there should be any rules and luckily there are less and less.’’ Mirren pointed out that back in the day women were restrained by ’’all kinds of rules’’. She added that luckily, people like Madonna came and changed this reality. The 77-year-old noted, ’’All rules are made to be broken.’’

However, there is one rule that Helen sticks by no matter what and that is being self-assured at all times. She shared, ’’Accepting who you are, finding confidence in it and not resisting it is the best beauty advice.’’
