How the Actors From “10 Things I Hate About You” Have Changed After 21 Years

It’s hard to believe that it has been 21 years since the release of 10 Things I Hate About You. Without a doubt, this film knew how to forge its place in our hearts from the moment Patrick sang Can’t Take My Eyes Off You in front of the whole school, to the moment we heard Kat read her poem, which made a reference to the film’s title.
And as a tribute to this unforgettable rom-com, Bright Side decided to check and see what these beloved actors have been up to since the movie was released and how they’ve changed since the end of the ’90s.
1. Julia Stiles
Julia, who played Kat, has been preparing for the third season Riviera, a miniseries that is broadcast by Sky Atlantic. The shooting took her to Argentina for filming in May. Later that same year, Stiles appeared on Hustlers, where together with Jennifer Lopez, they steal money from the richest traders on Wall Street. In 2017 she married Preston Cook and became a mother.
2. Larisa Oleynik
3. Joseph Gordon-Levitt
After playing Cameron, Joseph managed to create a successful career in the film industry. Some of the titles in his filmography include modern classics like 500 Days With Summer or Christopher Nolan’s Inception. The last film that he took part in was The Trial of the Chicago 7 which is currently in post-production.
4. Andrew Keegan
We remember him as the goofy guy in the movie, since Joey, his character, wasn’t the sharpest guy in school. After 10 Things I Hate About You he played Kevin in The Broken Hearts Club, and participated in several series and movies.
5. David Krumholtz
David played Michael, Cameron’s best friend in the movie. He was launched to fame with the series Numb3rs, where he brought Professor Charlie Eppes to life on the small screen, and he has also been involved in various other productions like The Deuce.
6. Gabrielle Union
We remember her as Chastity, but you may also be familiar with her role as Isis, the rival cheerleader in Bring It On, where she shared the stage with Kirsten Dunst. She’s worked on many series and movies, and she was even a judge on the 14th season of America’s Got Talent.
7. Daryl Mitchell
Daryl played Mr. Morgan, a teacher at the school where the movie is set. He has appeared in NCIS: New Orleans and Fear the Walking Dead, among other productions. In November 2001, he was involved in a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down.
8. Larry Miller
Actor Larry Miller played Walter Stratford, Kat and Bianca’s father. He was the typical protective, sort-of jealous parent that wanted the best for his daughters and that would discourage them from engaging in new adventures. In addition to appearing in films like Second Act, Get Smart, and The Princess Diaries, he gave voice to Dean Buzzwell in Bee Movie.
9. Allison Janney
Allison is an acclaimed actress who has won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe, among others. We remember her from 10 Things I Hate About You because of her role as the school principal, Ms. Perky, who used to write erotic novels in her spare time. Earlier this year, when a fan posted a photo on Instagram of her character, the actress replied in a comment, “I don’t understand! What is this? What am I in that, I forget I was in,” implying that she had completely forgotten her role in this film.
10. Heath Ledger
Patrick Verona made us fall in love with his smile, charisma, and creativity when he tried to conquer Kat. Sadly, Heath passed away in 2008, but he left many memories on the big screen, like his appearances in Brokeback Mountain or his performance as the Joker in Batman: The Dark Knight.
