Martha Stewart, 81, Makes History as Sports Illustrated’s Oldest Swimsuit Cover Girl Yet

The 81-year-old lifestyle guru added “swimsuit model” job to her resume after appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s 2023 Swimsuit Issue. Not only is this an honor in general, but Stewart also became the oldest SI cover model in history. We hope this sets a precedent for other mature women as Martha proved you can look hotter than ever in your 80s.

Martha was quite surprised by this honor.

Martha Stewart was selected as one of the four cover models for SI alongside Megan Fox, Kim Petras, and Brooks Nader. Notably, the culinary icon isn’t just the oldest out of the four, but the oldest woman to land a cover of the Swimsuit Issue ever.

Martha said she was quite excited about the opportunity and thought: “Oh, well that’s pretty good. I’m gonna be the oldest person, I think, ever on the cover of Sports Illustrated. And I don’t think about age very much, but I thought that this is kind of historic and that I better look really good.”

Her main goal was to inspire women her age.

The 81-year-old celebrity elaborated on why she decided to participate in the photoshoot. She posted on Instagram saying she did it for her fans to show them that it’s never too late to be daring and fun: “I hope this cover inspires you to challenge yourself to try new things, no matter what stage of life you are in. Changing, evolving, and being fearless — those are all very good things, indeed.”

She’s been preparing for this her entire life.

When asked what Stewart did to prepare for the photoshoot she said that she didn’t have to change her lifestyle that much: “I live a clean life anyway — good diet, good exercise and healthy skin care and all that.” She did a bit more physical activities before the shoot and avoided bread and pasta.

Overall, being able to confidently pose for Swimsuit Illustrated invigorated Martha, further showing her that she’s doing everything right and keeping herself in excellent shape: “For me, it is a testament to good living, and I think that all of us should think about good living, successful living and not about aging. The whole aging thing is so boring.”
