Why Cattrall was absent from season 1 of And Just Like That...

In 2018, Cattrall lost her brother, which prompted an explosive response from her to Sarah Jessica Parker expressing condolences. Kim wrote on her social media: “You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.” At that point, it was quite clear that the two actresses were not getting along.

When the time came for the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That... to be announced, Kim Cattrall’s name was notably absent from returning cast members. Parker explained the decision: “We did not ask her to be part of this because she made it clear that that wasn’t something she wanted to pursue, and it no longer felt comfortable for us.”
