    I turned bright red. The room went silent when she took it and walked out. I thought she’d hated it. A few minutes later, she came back, teary-eyed.
    “I’m sorry. I wasn’t upset about the blanket,” she said. “I was upset because you spent several nights making this for me. You didn’t have to do that.” She hugged me and told me she’d never had anyone make something like that for her.

6. The handmade blanket that felt like a hug

  • I’m one of the only people who crochets in my family. Most of what I make is presents for other people, but I don’t really get homemade gifts back in return. People usually assume that I must have so much homemade stuff just lying around my house. The truth is, I love getting handmade gifts from people.
    I recently got married, and my aunt decided to make me a blanket. I can tell yall that this blanket is the softest most love filled blanket. I just want to have it on me at all times. It just makes me tear up thinking that she must have spent months making this blanket. It makes me want to cry thinking about how much love went into it.
    I absolutely love it! I wish more people would give their crafty loved ones handmade gifts! We know how much love goes into them, which makes us appreciate them even more!

7. Birthday present for crush

  • So, I made this birthday present for my crush. We’ve become really, really good friends over time. We’re super comfortable with each other, talk naturally, joke around, and overall our friendship is genuinely one of my favorite things.
    This birthday present is something I made with a lot of effort because I wanted it to feel special not over-the-top, just something meaningful. She likes sunflowers so much.

8.Tip jar for kind barista

  • I have a favorite coffee stand at the local farmers market. The barista is a very sweet girl who notices when we miss a week.
    Anyway made her this tip jar out of an upcycled pickled beets jar. I used an acrylic ornament blank and some stacked buttons so she could attach it and detach it easily. Acrylic marker works really well on the blanks but also cleans off easily. I crocheted it with some little hand dyed mini skeins I had around.
    I lettered it myself laying it on top of my iPad but told her to change it whenever she likes. She has much fancier handwriting on her acrylic menue boards then I could do. Thankfully she was quite pleased with it and thought the gesture was really sweet instead of strange. Sometimes my too much gene can’t help but craft for someone.

9. Mom’s surprise

  • My mom and Dad live local to me. This year they went across the country to visit their grandbabies and my brother and SIL for Xmas. Mom arranged for someone to drop off an amazing handmade gift for me every day that they were away, since it was my first Xmas alone!

10. Just finished this lovey for my best friend’s daughter’s first birthday and I just love how it turned out!

11. My life long friend gifted me this handmade mug of me, my boyfriend and our two cats in the style of my all time favorite game. I wanted to share it with you.

12. The gifts that cost less often mean the most.

  • My SIL has very little $ and has always made gifts for us and the kids and I treasure them! Some of our faves include — ceramic trays for jewelry or little snack bowls, fishing lures, carved toys for the kids, baking (one year she baked several types of cookies for the freezer to use for lunchbox snacks!), bath salts and body scrubs, pot plants decorated by my nieces and nephews.
    One year they really had no budget and she wrote her favourite recipes in a notebook and I felt so honoured she would share them with me! Oh and she’s also done seeds harvested from her garden! Her gifts are usually my most treasured because she spends a lot of time putting thought into them.
