Christina Applegate’s RARE Public Appearance Sheds Light on Her Uncertain Acting Future
Among uncertainty surrounding her Hollywood career, Christina Applegate made a rare public appearance to reflect on her cherished roles. The Dead to Me actress delivered an emotional speech, reuniting with her co-star Jean Smart.
Christina Applegate was honored at Variety’s 2023 TV FYC Fest in Los Angeles for her achievements as an actress and producer. Her recent multiple sclerosis diagnosis accentuated the emotional moment, which has left her uncertain about future acting commitments.
Jean Smart, Applegate’s co-star in the ABC sitcom Samantha Who?, presented her with the award.
Applegate started by saying, “Thank you so much for being supportive and understanding as I journey through this new part of my life, not knowing if I’m going to continue on to act anymore. I don’t know if I can. I’d love to; I do miss it. I miss it so much.”
“It’s a daily struggle to walk and to move and stuff, but I’m so happy I ended it with a show like Dead to Me,” she continued. Christina showed gratitude to co-stars Linda Cardellini and James Marsden saying they had a lot of fun filming her last show.
Applegate publicly disclosed her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2021. This chronic autoimmune condition hinders communication between the body and the brain, resulting in symptoms such as tremors, vision loss, and limb weakness.
