People Reveal the Most Disrespectful Things a Guest Has Ever Done in Their Home

Having guests at home is quite an exciting activity that oftentimes requires a lot of preparation. Though there are people who overdo it, overperform, and overstay their welcome by doing things that homeowners will never forget, even many years later.

We at Bright Side came across a Reddit thread where people shared the most disrespectful and horrible things guests did in their homes.

  • My sister used to stop over, steal my wife’s clothes, make a mess, then leave. We changed the locks, so she’d steal my parents’ key to get in, so we stopped giving them one, and somehow she’d still get in, like a cockroach. We have since moved far out of her visiting range. © jonsacreep / Reddit
  • This one couple sat down at the table with my cake (which had yet to be served), each of them took a fork and started to eat it, neither of them cut a slice of cake for themselves, but they went back and forth with forks to mouths and to cake, smacking and slurping. Nobody else wanted any cake after that. © fraubrennessel / Reddit

I mean it's still rude to take a slice without asking but a whole cake wow

  • Had some friends in middle school come over and smash up all the Lego sets in my room. Then they wondered why I didn’t want them to come over again. © Hydrosimian / Reddit
  • A friend of mine used to wipe crumbs onto the floor instead of on his plate. © xxHEYxx / Reddit
  • My friend’s wife came out of our master bathroom and let us know she “borrowed” some pain meds she found in the medicine cabinet. She then slept on the couch for most of the visit. © KeepingBalance / Reddit
  • She stole my winter hoodies and anti-depressants. © UndecidedLemon / Reddit
  • Background, I love puzzles and own a decent collection of wooden ones that are used as decoration in my guest bedroom.
A guest who was sleeping over decided it would be a good idea to dismantle every single one of the puzzles, mix all of their pieces together, and leave them in a pile for me to find the next day. © j0bs / Reddit
  • My son’s friend (in middle school) opened all the yogurts in my refrigerator. Didn’t eat them, just opened all the tinfoil lids. © lennybriscoforthewin / Reddit
  • The neighbor’s kid came in with dirt all over his feet and then wiped them on the carpet. I was never able to get the stain out. © kwaters1 / Reddit
  • A good ’friend’ of mine would steal my shoes when they were over. It took me a couple of times before I figured out it was her and not anyone else. © xxHEYxx / Reddit
  • Cut their toenails in my living room. They were just visiting for a few hours. © PigCopsFatT*ts / Reddit
  • Back when I used to have people over at my house, I would estimate at least 40% would walk in, step over the doormat, step onto the runner rug that’s just beyond the doormat, and wipe their feet on it. I never understood what would compel a person to do that. © DenL4242 / Reddit
  • My guests decided to completely rearrange the bookshelf that I have categorized by author and genre. They wanted it to look more “cozy” so they added a bunch of stuff, took books out, rearranged them, etc. © king1861 / Reddit
  • Brother brought a few friends over after a party. We told my brother to make sure everyone stayed downstairs and used the downstairs bathroom since the upstairs one was cluttered. Well, I went to use the bathroom upstairs and the door was locked. I banged on the door and out popped 2 girls with suspicious looks on their faces. I went inside and saw EVERYTHING open, the closet, the shower, the cabinet as if they were going through our stuff. Turns out they were recording and taking photos of themselves reacting to different products and our shower. We live in a high-income town and these girls came from much wealthier homes than ours, we are simply working class. They took these pics/videos to basically mock our home. © ohsnapihaveocd / Reddit
