Robert Downey Jr. Recreates Wedding Picture and Sends Sweet Tribute to His Wife

We may know Robert Downey Jr. as the superhero Iron Man. But little did we know that he’s also been fully in love for almost two decades. Let’s dive into his love life as he celebrates 18 years of marriage with his wife, Susan.

Robert Downey Jr.’s first two loves

We might not remember it, but Robert Downey Jr. and Sarah Jessica Parker were once one of Hollywood’s power couples. They dated for 7 years, ending their relationship in 1991.

However, love was just around the corner again for RDJ. In May 1992, he married actress and singer Deborah Falconer. Between ups and downs, the couple stayed married for 12 years, and as a result of their love, their first child was born in 1993.

But then he met “the one”.

Robert and Susan Downey first met on the set of the movie Gothika in 2003. His quirkiness made an impression on her, as she stated in an interview, “(In the set) everybody else ordered Japanese, but Robert told us how oatmeal was the ‘superfood.’ He brought his own packets of oatmeal to have at lunch. And he had this box of various herbs and stuff. And then he started doing these yoga moves. I mean, he was interesting but weird.”

Weird or not, Susan fell in love. They started dating, and only 3 months after that, they were already engaged. Robert and Susan got married in 2005; since then, they have been super vocal about how happy they are.

Recently, as the couple celebrated 18 years of marriage, Robert Downey Jr. went on social media to gush over his wife. He posted a recreation of their wedding photo with the caption, “18 years, love still in bloom!!”

Famous friends of the couple left a comment. “These are the best photos, Robert! Love you both!” said Jeremy Renner. Paul Bettany, his Marvel colleague, also said, “Lots of love, dearhearts.”

Some people say that meeting Susan saved Robert Downey Jr. from his troubles. Since the beginning of their relationship, he had to choose between her or continuing to have a chaotic life. The choice was easy. It was a thriving decision since they had 2 kids together, with a strong bond that continues through the years.
