“People Stare at Us,” A Guy Is Mocked for Dating a 252-lb Woman, but They’re Bonded for Life

In the world of love, there’s no one-size-fits-all match. Beauty standards are subjective, and love doesn’t require conforming to them. The love story of Matt and Brittany beautifully exemplifies this notion.

They’ve faced ridicule and criticism from others who couldn’t look beyond their differences. Nevertheless, they’ve shown that true love goes beyond appearances and requires accepting each other for who they are.

Brittany has struggled to be accepted her whole life.

23-year-old Brittany Jacques had been searching for love and acceptance her entire life. Despite her best efforts, she’d been met with disappointment and heartbreak time and time again. Her relationships with controlling partners had left her feeling hopeless and drained, eroding her confidence in herself and her body.

Despite the mixed messages from her ex-boyfriends, who either wanted her to slim down or fetishized her curves, Brittany made up her mind to refuse to compromise her self-worth any longer. She made the brave decision to close herself off from the possibility of love altogether.

However, little did she know that fate had other plans in store for her. Sometimes, the universe brings people together in the most unexpected and beautiful ways, as Brittany was about to discover.

Their paths crossed, although it wasn’t easy at first.

Jacques had almost given up on finding love when fate brought her together with Matt Montgomery through Facebook in August 2020. Despite their noticeable physical differences — Jacques being a plus-size woman and Montgomery having a slim build — they felt an instant connection and undeniable chemistry.

As Jacques recalls, “I was a bit hesitant at first. I’ve been in relationships where guys have told me that they will dump me if I don’t start dieting or trying to lose weight. It did affect my self-confidence, and at one point, I did start working out and trying to change my size.”

Ignoring the criticism, they followed their hearts and became certain they were meant to be together. Montgomery proposed to Jacques on January 30, 2022, and they began planning their future together.

As Jacques and Montgomery shared their love story with the world, they faced a barrage of hurtful comments and judgment from online trolls. Montgomery revealed that people had questioned his manliness and physical stature. “People comment on Instagram and suggest that I’m not big enough or man enough for her,” he said. Adding, “I do notice people staring when we walk down the street...”

Their love went beyond any criticism or misconceptions.

Despite the hurtful remarks and discomfort, the couple refused to let the criticism tear them apart. Instead, they made a vow to stand together and show that love comes in all shapes and sizes. However, by also having had negative experiences with thin women in the past, Matt recognized Brittany as his soulmate.

Ever since he met her, he was smitten with Jacques’ body-positive attitude and self-love, and instead of pushing her to change her appearance, he focused on making her happy. Just like her remarks in an Instagram post, writing, “You are worthy, you are deserving of infinite love every single day and more. The way I look at you and feel for you and the way you look and feel for me is how I know that we are meant to be.”

Jacques and Montgomery are proud of their mixed-weight relationship and wish to set an example for others who find themselves in a similar situation. “I wish mixed-weight relationships were more common and more in the norm,” she said.

They firmly believe that love has no limits, and people of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds can find joy with each other. True love is priceless and should not be subject to scrutiny or shame based on physical appearance. Rather, we should promote and celebrate love as it’s what adds beauty and splendor to the world.
