Neighbors take up much more of our energy than we are used to thinking. Some of them bring positive vibes, while others can turn one’s life into a nightmare. A Reddit thread where people share the crazy stuff their neighbors do proves it.

We at Bright Side hope that everyone has only good neighbors because these 15 stories show that they are vital.

  • My neighbor was hopping my fence during the day when I was gone at work to use my backyard pool. When confronted (thanks to a snitch neighbor), he claimed he had an agreement with the previous tenant that he could use the pool whenever he wanted. Guess what? I’m not that tenant. I have a bunch of security cameras now. © Linux4ever_Leo / Reddit
  • Had a neighbor who wouldn’t let anyone use his driveway because he didn’t want it to get dirty. Anyone including himself. He parked on the street outside. If he thought you were having a party he would drag a bunch of plastic bags full of god knows what to the end of his driveway so no one could turn around it. One time I came home and he was outside hosing it down in the rain.

  • My neighbor has a penchant for going around and sticking nails in people’s tires at night. This has happened dozens of times to nearly everyone on the street, though she’s slowed down since more people started installing video cams and motion-sensor lights in their driveways. © Dahhhkness / Reddit
  • I used to live in a neighborhood with an HOA. One of the members on the board lived across the street from my neighbor and me. He sent a letter to us saying that we all have to mow the lawn on the same day, at the same cut height, and in the SAME PATTERN to create uniformity in the neighborhood. What my neighbor and I did was intentionally cut on different days and in opposite patterns just to annoy the guy. © mrsheikh / Reddit
  • My neighbor took my new blueberry and raspberry bushes and stuck them in her yard. She replaced them with sticks she found. © TheEffingRiddler / Reddit
  • Lived in a small apartment and my neighbors always cranked up their music to 11. Like loud, loud. And until something like 7 AM. Maybe later, but that’s when I would leave for work. It was reported by heaps of people, but nothing was ever done, so at some point, I would jam their lock when they went out so their keys wouldn’t work anymore and they had to get the property manager in while the music was blasting inside. After a couple of times of that happening, they were evicted. Maybe I’m the bad neighbor in this story... © time_to_reset / Reddit
  • My neighbor pulled us over pretending to be a police officer, saying that we had somehow broken the law whilst pulling out of our driveway and that she was “going to call it in.” © fluffybabypuppies / Reddit
  • Their dogs got into my backyard and attacked my dog. My dog ended up ok but it was a long recovery. The dogs were able to get through because their kids had taken a plank out of my fence (they didn’t have a fence). I left a letter on their door explaining the situation. They showed up at my door to tell me that it was my fault for not having a stronger fence and that they wouldn’t be paying any medical bills. After a lot of them yelling and me calmly explaining why they actually would be paying, they eventually complied. They did build a fence, backward, with the flat side facing them. © Wolf97 / Reddit
  • When I started my first job post-college, I was thrilled to live by myself for the first time in my life. I had this beautiful one-bedroom apartment in a solid part of town. Everything was great until 6 months later when new tenants moved in next to my unit. I had a package go missing (a phone case). Amazon posted a photo of it at my door, so I thought that it was just a fluke. Then it happened again, and again, and again. Fast forward a few weeks, and I come home after being gone for less than an hour, to see that my doorknob and front door were scrapped up and the knob was barely hanging on. Long story short, I had been parking in plain view of this guy’s window, so he was able to tell when I was home. © Ladyringo / Reddit
  • The upstairs neighbor’s dog peed on their patio and it dripped down onto me while I was sitting outside reading. I yelled and ran to shower, and when I texted them to ask them to take their dog out to pee in the future they said it wasn’t their dog and it must have blown over from somewhere else. • I used to live in a horrible apartment with paper-thin walls. The people next door were a woman who looked like she was in her 70s and what I thought was her 30-something grandson. They would yell at each other all day, and constantly blast their TV. I also think the guy kept track of my schedule and watched for me because whenever I came home or went out, even when I took out the garbage, he would be there outside his place, trying to chit chat with me while staring at my body and being completely gross. Lived there a year, but it felt like 10. © Thin_Host / Reddit
  • I have neighbor kids that use my driveway and yard as their play area. No matter how many times I ask them to stop (because they’ve straight-up damaged both my vehicles and caused damage to my yard) they don’t. Talking to the parents has been useless. “They’re kids! They’re going to play where they want!” Sort of reaction. So I put planters up as a barrier on my sidewalk and around my driveway so they couldn’t cut through from their house and into my yard anymore. © LemonPuckerFace / Reddit
  • We had some neighbors that used to leave their garbage out in plastic bags the night before garbage day — instead of putting it in a bin. Around here, that’s just ringing the dinner bell for raccoons and other critters. © kor_hookmaster / Reddit
  • In the first apartment I lived in, I had a neighbor that would try opening the door. Didn’t hear it myself because I worked nights but I came home early one night around 2 AM and he was trying to get in. Had a huge argument with him and he stopped doing it after that. © frontal_pin / Reddit

New neighbours moved in, we heard the baby crying 24/7. Anyway we had a secure gate also to keep strangers of all kinds out. My son, Granddaughter and l lived in our unit. So my Granddaughter was away at her mothers for a few days.
My chair faced the TV, my son was in the bedroom. Next thing l hear the front door open and close quickly. Casually as can be this little African boy walks in, seeing my Granddaughter's toys he sits down and starts playing. l ask his name, no answer. Told him to go home, he ignored me, so l called my son. Spent a fair while trying to find where he belonged and ushering him out the front door. At this point his mother Finally shows up, (she's Karen).

So she's screaming, unit manager shows up. to start will he's carrying on too. Finally told him to shut up and listen, he did.
Finally he ushers her and the family away, told them they better watch him as he could have been out the security gate or taken by someone considering how long this went on for......

We clipped and locked all our doors after that...we moved 2yrs later, best decision EVER!!!.....LOL
