One piece of something good is great but having 2 pieces makes it perfect and unforgettable. Hollywood used to have several sets of twins back in the ’80s and ’90s that the whole US (and beyond) adored with all of their hearts. But surprisingly, we don’t hear much about them anymore. The greatest tragedy about Hollywood twins is that they first shine so bright it hurts your eyes, and then they turn around and walk off into the sunset, leaving us hoping for a “to be continued...”

Here at Bright Side, we’ve recalled several pairs of twins we all loved back in the ’80s and ’90s and conducted some research to find out what they’re up to these days.

1. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were probably the most popular twins in the ’90s and early 2000s. Their career started with the role of Michelle Tanner on the popular sitcom, Full House. Afterward, they starred in multiple movies about twins. However, at the age of 18, they quit acting, moved to New York and started to work in the fashion industry as fashion designers.

2. Cole and Dylan Sprouse

Cole and Dylan Sprouse became very popular for their roles of Zack and Cody on Disney’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2005-2008). After the spinoff series, The Suite Life on Deck (2008-2011) wrapped, the twins quit acting for a while, but now they’re returning to the spotlight. Cole is starring in the popular series Riverdale (2017-2019) and Dylan is starring in movies.

3. Tia and Tamera Mowry

The Mowry twins first gained recognition for starring in Sister, Sister (1994-1999). Later they appeared in many TV projects both together and separately and won Americans’ hearts. They still continue to act but are also married, each with 2 children — a boy and a girl.

4. Blake and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit

Blake and Dylan’s first and last roles were as the twins Alex and Nicky on the popular sitcom Full House (1992-1995) and in 2 episodes of the show’s spinoff, Fuller House in 2016. Dylan now works as a foley artist (a person who makes sounds for movies), and one of his projects was for Game of Thrones! Blake works as a sound engineer (or foley mixer) and adds sounds to movies.

5. Tiffany and Krystle Mataras

Tiffany and Krystle played twins in several movies, but they’re most known for their roles in Problem Child 2 (1991) where they played twin girls from the neighborhood who were constantly trying to sell something. The girls didn’t pursue an acting career for long, and now they’re living a quiet, ordinary life and don’t share much of it with fans.

6. Brittany and Cynthia Daniel

Brittany and Cynthia became popular after their roles as Jessica and Elizabeth on Sweet Vally High (1994-1997). For Brittany, it wasn’t her first role as she had already appeared in several projects before that. However, it wasn’t her last role because she continued to act and eventually got married. As for Cynthia, she dropped her acting career and has become a photographer. She’s also married and has 3 children.

7. Benji and Joel Madden

The twins founded the pop-punk band Good Charlotte in 1996. The band was very popular in the ’90s and early 2000 and still exists. The Madden brothers are also mentors on the Australian The Voice. Joel is married to Nicole Richie and has 2 children and Benji is married to Cameron Diaz.

8. Lisa and Louise Burns

Lisa and Louise played the twin girls from The Shining (1980), and although their performance was very memorable, they never continued their acting careers and kept living an ordinary life away from the spotlight. Lisa studied literature at a university, and Louise has become a microbiologist.
