16 People Who Followed Their Intuition and Didn’t Regret It

Some people are guided by logic, while others rely on the sixth sense. Sometimes it’s not clear why a particular thought comes into our head, but it often turns out to be very timely. The heroes of our article at some point chose to trust their intuition, and it certainly didn’t let them down.

  • 37th week. Second child. I wake up, and my first thought is, “I have to give birth today. I have to!”
I ran to the shop twice. I searched the Internet looking for the “magic pill” to speed up labor. I ate a lot of special food. A couple of hours later, the contractions started.
I left for the hospital at 12 a.m. It was a tough night. In the morning, at 10:30, my son was born. The doctor said, “He’s big, post-term. The placenta is thick with calcification. A couple more days, and there could be irreparable damage.”

  • I’m single. I met a wonderful man: older than me, intelligent, well-read. Only I had a gnawing feeling that good men are a rare find. And my intuition didn’t fail me!
A week into our acquaintance, some woman wrote me a very rude message on social media, demanding to leave her man alone. To my logical question to the suitor, “Who is it?” I was told that it was just a friend. And another week later, his wife wrote to me with the similar demand.
All this time, this man and I were just texting on neutral topics (books, weather). And a couple of weeks later, I saw him kissing a young girl outside a shop.
Well, life isn’t a fairy tale. A “good” man can truly believe he’ll have enough strength for everyone. I blocked him. I’m not going to line up to get a man. © Not everyone will understand / VK
  • Morning, I just woke up and said to my husband, “Be aware of the hit from the right.” He was like, “I don’t need to go anywhere today, it’s Saturday.” Well, okay.
15 minutes later, his boss calls and says it’s urgent. I remind him about the hit.
The husband comes back and says, “How did you know about it? I’m driving in the city. My light’s green. But I remember what you told me, and I look to my right, and a car is speeding into me. Either the brakes failed or the driver didn’t see the red light.
I hit the brakes, he passes just a foot in front of me! And if it hadn’t been for you, there would be an accident.” © Eugenia B / Dzen

“Went to bed. I felt uncomfortable. I tossed and turned with a keen feeling that I couldn’t sleep in this room tonight. I went to another room. And this is what happened at 7:30 a.m.”

“The house is not finished yet. One of the beams broke, and the ceiling collapsed.”

  • 2 years ago, I was in bed (one-room apartment) almost falling asleep when I suddenly had the urge to lock my door. Yeah, I didn’t do it before because I lived in a village with not even 30 people and didn’t think something could happen. I got up and locked the door, and my gut feeling vanished. Got back to sleep and everything.
The next morning, I wake up to sirens from several police cars. Someone broke into the house next to my flat. They never locked their doors. © YeaSureWhateverDude / Reddit
  • Back in high school, I had a dream about a basketball flying at me in gym class, hitting me in the head with all its might while I was on the bench chatting with a friend. I dreamt that I ended up with a concussion and was put in the hospital.
And the next day, during the real gym class, I’m sitting on the bench and chatting with my friend. And then I realize it’s exactly the same as in my dream. As soon as I realize it, I turn to the side from which the ball flew in my dream and extend my hand.
I stopped the ball and avoided the concussion, although my arm was hurting pretty badly. So, who knows what it was? © LanaBanana / ADME
  • There was a cute little cat living outside the shop. I wanted to adopt her, but my boyfriend was against it. One day I suddenly wanted to see how she was doing.
I came to the shop, I asked the shop assistant, and she said that the cat was fine, but just today the owner of the building freaked out that everyone was feeding her right on the super expensive granite tiles, and ordered to take the cat somewhere.
I talked to my boyfriend again, and the next day I took the cat home. She’s been living with us for 2 months now. © Zelenochka / Pikabu
  • A little bit about female intuition. I went to the New Year’s party at my friend’s place. I’m packing keys, phone, swimsuit, present. Wait, why do I need a swimsuit in winter? All right, let it be.
I come to her place, we sit and celebrate. Suddenly, our mutual friend calls and invites us to his cottage for a barbeque. There’s a sauna there too. So, the swimsuit came in handy! © Not everyone will understand / VK
  • I was once lazy to go to bed and decided to sleep on the sofa. In the morning, I just opened my eyes and looked at the bed, and after a couple of seconds, the shelf that hung above it, broke off the fasteners and fell right on the place where my head was supposed to be. I was so shocked that I never slept on the bed again. © nafkin / Pikabu
  • I was dating a guy for a short time, fell in love with him. I was 21 years old, he was 24. Suddenly he disappeared, and there was no communication to find out why — there were no mobile phones then. I was heartbroken for 6 months.
Once I had a dream that I met him, and he had a wife and a 3-year-old son. And I understood everything.
A few days later, I meet this guy on the street by chance. We’re both happy to see each other. I ask him, “What happened then?” And he confesses that he is married and also has a little son who is 3 years old. © Elena Prokhorova / Dzen
  • I once had an obsession with learning to drive a car. I even had terrible dreams about it. I finished the course, learned how to drive, but didn’t get the driver’s license (I went to the sea).
After a short time, I found myself in a situation where I was out of town with a colleague, and she suddenly becomes ill (and her condition worsens). I had to drive and take her to hospital. After that, my interest in driving disappeared. © GeneralovaOksana / ADME
  • I went to my parents in the village, 100 miles from the city. It’s summer, I left late on Friday — but it’s good, fewer cars. And here remains about 30 miles to the place, the time is 1 a.m., the road is rural, there are almost no cars.
Then the fog rolled in, a thick summer fog. You can’t see anything after 50 yards away, or even less. At first, I reduced the speed to 40. And after a little while, I realize that it’s uncomfortable to drive like that. I reduced it to 25, then to 20. It seems silly to drive that slowly — you can see the headlights of cars in advance.
But I simply can’t drive faster. And suddenly the light of headlights catches the white stockings of legs, and then the whole gray-brown carcass of a moose. It’s standing right in my lane. It ran away only after I drove up right next to it. © izhivi / Pikabu
  • I was sitting at a red light behind a big van, no cars in the left lane, but that lane was typically used for turning left (but not exclusive to left turns). Anyway, the light turned green, that’s when the van in front of me decided to turn on their right turn signal light and proceed to take forever to turn. I was going to go around the van and go straight, but something told me to wait.
A second later, a big old car came flying through the intersection, running the red light. If I had driven around the van, that car would have hit me on the passenger side, my daughter was in that seat. © MrsCaramel112 / Reddit
  • One day we decided to go to a café with the guys after college. I agreed, but as soon as we sat down at the table, I started to think, “I have to go home!” I said goodbye to the guys and went home.
I run to the 5th floor, enter and see that my sister put the kettle on the stove, forgot about it and went for a walk. The water from the kettle poured onto the fire, and the gas was still on. It smelled strongly of gas. It was good that it was daytime, so I didn’t have to switch on the lights. © С. P. / Dzen
  • A few days before my wedding, I had a dream that my wedding band was made of 2 halves glued together. It keeps breaking, and I try to squeeze it on my finger to put it back together, but it breaks again. My husband and I separated quickly — we didn’t live together even for 2 years. © Sophie / Dzen
  • About 10 years ago, we were driving from the hospital, it was almost nighttime. We drove past a small building that we rented out. Back at the hospital, my mother wanted to go there, but we decided that it was too late, and what was the point of going there at that time, because everything had been closed for a long time.
But at the last moment, Mom changed her mind and turned there. The building was heated manually in winter, mostly with coal, and there was a watchman who worked there. We approached, and it was too bright in the boiler room.
We run to open the door and see that the stove is burning, or rather, the wood laid out on it, which the watchman decided to dry, while he went for a walk. We managed to put it out. Mom still can’t explain why we went there. © LenivyjTyulen / Pikabu
  • When I was a student, I was walking home lost in my thoughts past an abandoned construction site. It’s raining, not a single streetlight is lit in town. It’s dark. I distinctly hear my own voice:
    — Stop! Stop!
I stopped and looked around — nobody. I certainly didn’t say that to myself. But the voice is mine, the way I hear it when I speak. It’s creepy. I listened to the sounds and realized that a step away from me, the water was flowing somewhere.
I sat down and, thanks to the glare from the distant light bulb, I could see the outline of an open manhole into which the water from the puddles was running. If I hadn’t heard myself, I would have fallen through, maybe hit a rebar. And the manhole was right in the center of the pavement I was walking on. © FreudNotSleep / Pikabu
