Brooke Shields Reveals Strict Rules for Her 17-Year-Old Daughter Who Wants to Become a Model

The legendary model and actress, is facing a big parenting challenge: protecting her 17-year-old daughter from the treacherous world of modeling. Having experienced the dark side of childhood stardom herself, Shields is determined to spare her daughter from similar pitfalls. In a recent interview, the actress revealed the strict conditions her daughter would have to meet should she pursue a career in modeling.

Shields is not thrilled with her daughter’s passion for modeling.

The 58-year-old actress, who has two daughters, Grier Hammond Henchy, 17, and Rowan Frances Henchy, 20, candidly discussed her younger daughter’s interest in professional modeling. In a recent interview, Shields revealed her initial resistance, admitting that she fought against it for a long time.

A former teenage model herself, Shields has been adamantly against her 17-year-old daughter entering the modeling industry: ’’She’s interested in the runway. And that’s brutal,’’ she said, highlighting how the industry has evolved into a fierce “rat race” since her own modeling beginnings.

But after realizing that this is her daughter’s big dream, and she is very passionate about it, Shields had to give in. Besides, Grier’s mom can’t help but agree that her daughter is indeed ’’ridiculously stunning.’’ However, she has a set of strict rules Grier will have to follow if she decides to go for it.

She has a unique set of rules for Grier.

Shields is adamant that she’s not going to be her daughter’s manager and that Grier would have to work with an agency and have a strong work ethic: ’’It’s not going to be comfortable, and you’re going to listen to me,’’ the actress openly told her daughter. As a protective parent, Shields is also adamant that Grier attends college regardless.

Shields also reflected on her own experiences as a child star, managed by her mother. She shared the challenges she faced in the documentary Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields, revealing the negative aspects of childhood stardom. Shields’ past encounters in the entertainment industry have understandably influenced her concerns and caution.

She is super supportive of both of her daughters.

Grier’s older sister, Rowan, focuses on her college education and dreams of becoming a journalist, modeling aspirations don’t seem to be on her radar—for now. But Shields is equally supportive of both of her daughters. She also emphasizes the importance of instilling confidence in them and being mindful of body image discussions: “I really have to be like, ’How would this sound if it was said to me at 13?’ I celebrate the differences in their bodies,” she says.

It’s not uncommon for celebrities’ kids to follow in their parent’s footsteps. Some of them even become more prominent than their famous moms and dads. Maybe this will be the case with Grier Frenchie — only time can tell what awaits this rising star.
