Scientists Say That Short Wives and Tall Husbands Have the Happiest Marriages

We at Bright Side became intrigued by this conclusion and delved deeply into the why. If you can’t wait to find out the reasons, stay with us, and scroll down.
Evolution takes its toll.
In the course of Kitae Sohn’s research data from 7,850 women was collected and analyzed. It shows that wives’ happiness is directly linked to their husband’s height. Sohn says that women may be intrinsically attracted by taller men because they can’t explain their choice. The evolutionary reason is one that can affect women’s preferences. However, the study came to the conclusion that this factor matters for the first 18 years of marriage only. After that, height does not matter.
Tall men give a sense of protection and femininity.
Another study was conducted in order to find the answer to the following question, “Is height important in matters of the heart?” The answer is yes. 601 women took part in this research and shared their opinions:
- Something just feels weird in thinking about looking ‘down’ into my man’s eyes.
- There is also something to be said about being able to wear shoes with high heels and still being shorter.
- I also want to be able to hug him with my arms reaching up and around his neck.
- As the girl, I like to feel delicate and secure at the same time.
Tall men are believed to be smarter.
If you check this study, you will find out that a direct correlation between intelligence and height really exists. Based on the results of this research, scientists stated that taller men really are smarter. But it is important to say that the study does not claim that all short people are not so smart. This is just an average result across the study.
Tall men are believed to have higher income.
According to this scientific article, the taller you are, the more you earn. It states that a person who is 6 feet tall can be predicted to earn around $166,000 more during a 30-year career than a man who is only 5’5. More research was done by Anne Case and Christina Paxson. They suggest that a one-inch increase in height is associated with a 2 to 2.5 percent increase in income or earnings.
Tall men are more likely to have a higher social status.
One more study confirms that height is also directly linked to interpersonal dominance and social status. This is explained by the fact that tall men are more likely to participate in social activities. Doing so, they accumulate a social adaptability that helps them achieve higher goals.
What is the ideal difference in height?
An interesting conclusion was drawn by Boguslaw Pawlowski, a Polish anthropologist. He found that money, respect, and trust are not something we should care about when choosing a life partner. What really matters is the height difference ratio. According to his study a man needs to be 1.09 times taller.
Do you want to know which couples into fit this success ratio? Here are some examples the researcher introduced:
- Cherie Blair and Tony Blair = 1.10
- Victoria Beckham and David Beckham = 1.09
What do you think about the results of these studies? What height difference do you have with your partner? Share your answers below. And we wish all our readers a happy and long marriage regardless of your height.
