It might be from her role as Jenny Humphrey in the hit show Gossip Girl or Cindy Lou Who from the movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas, but Taylor Momsen’s face is undeniably familiar. Recently, she opened up about how things weren’t easy in her personal life as a child actress.

Taylor Momsen’s debut on the big screen was in a big role as Cindy Lou Who in the movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas. She was just 7 years old. But it was a revealing role for her as an actress and her first time singing. The career she would later pursue professionally.

“That was such an impactful moment in my life because it made me go, ‘I wanna make music for the rest of my life. I love being in a recording studio,” Taylor remembers.

She also experienced other “on-set firsts,” including wearing a wig, fake teeth, and fake eyelashes for the very first time, making the incomparable look of the Whos characters.

But this transformation and the success of the movie made a huge impact on her personal life.

In a recent interview, Tomsen recalled her difficult time as a famous kid in a movie.“Making friends was always challenging for me. First of all, The Grinch changed my life in a multitude of ways — one of them being I was made fun of relentlessly.”

She added, “I don’t think the kids knew my name. I was just ’Grinch Girl.’ Not even the character name, just ’Grinch Girl’. I got used to it, but it was alienating.”

Nevertheless, she’s grateful for her experience, especially because she acted alongside Jim Carrey. “The core of the story is so sweet, and it’s so heartwarming, and it has such a good message. Aside from how amazing Jim Carrey’s performance is and the theatrics that went into the shoot, just the way the film looks and moves and is edited is amazing in its own right,” she said. And we couldn’t agree more.
