Believe it or not, there’s a relationship between having a bigger head and a more functional brain. On average, a newborn’s head measures about 35 cm, and anything above that is considered “big.” Seeing that your baby has a larger head than others their age might bother new parents at first, but there’s no need to worry unless your pediatrician tells you to. A study has found that these babies tend to be super-intelligent as they grow up when compared to others.

This study intrigued us at Bright Side and we would like to elaborate on it more for our readers.

Infants with bigger heads have increased brain activity.

The research conducted at The University of Edinburgh collected data from more than half a million people. They ranged from 37 to 73 years old. The participants underwent a series of mental and physical tests, revealing details about their lifestyles.

After analyzing the data, the research found that people who had bigger heads as infants had increased brain activity. It also added that these babies are intelligent and more likely to get a university degree.

They can read and understand things well.

Linking the connection between genes, health, and intelligence, a study published in the journal, Molecular Psychiatry, found more important facts related to head circumference. Together with longevity, intracranial volume, and self-rated health, the head circumference showed positive genetic correlations with intelligence and better results in cognitive measurements.

They have a higher number of neurons.

Another study claims that people who are born with big heads have more neurons in their brains. An increased number of neurons makes them sharper and better than the rest when it comes to problem-solving. It’s just that people with larger heads have the potential to use their mental abilities to the max. Either way, what matters most is how you make use of what you have!
