Why Women Who Stay Single for Long Periods of Time Are the Happiest

When it comes to dating, intelligent women are as picky as it gets. They’d rather wait for the right person to come along, than rush into a relationship due to societal pressure. According to a recent poll, more and more women are choosing to stay single and enjoying their own company. The reason is simple — they feel happier.
In our society, being single is often synonymous with being sad and lonely, which is not the case at all. In fact, women who are not in relationships are happier than the committed ones. Bright Side would like to tell you why:
1. They have more time for themselves.
Women in relationships often complain about not having any time to themselves. They are always either looking after their partner or worrying about their kids. However, when you are single, you have all the time in the world to yourself. Get that manicure done or go to that concert you’ve always wanted to go to, YOU are in charge of your life.
2. There’s no pressure to meet your partner’s expectations all the time.
Remembering your partner’s birthday, getting them something for Valentine’s Day, planning special getaways for the 2 of you, always being your perfect self from head to toe — the list goes on! Relationships are a lot of work and can get overwhelming at times. On the other hand, when you are single, you don’t have to dress to impress. You do everything at your convenience which naturally keeps you away from stress.
3. They stop caring about what people say.
When you are independent for a long time, you realize that the only person who can judge you is you. You believe in yourself and stop caring about what other people say. You no longer look for validation from others and naturally, feel happier.
4. They make their other relationships strong.
When you are in a relationship, you spend most of your time with your partner and hardly any with your friends and family, which ultimately distances you from them. But, when you are single, you have the time to check up on your loved ones more often and spend quality time with them. You bond deeper and find yourself feeling happier.
5. They travel more and worry less.
Being single is empowering. It helps you see the world in a different light and experience things you could never do while in a relationship. You travel more and take the time to explore the things around you. You come to terms with being different and find peace in your own company.
What makes you happy? Being single or in a relationship? Let us know!
