Christine Taylor Reveals Why She and Ben Stiller Rekindled Their Marriage After 5 Years Apart

Research suggests that celebrity couples are twice as likely to divorce than the rest of us, which is evident in the number of pairs that call it quits in Hollywood. However, many of them did break up at one point, only to be drawn back into each other’s orbits. Christine Taylor and Ben Stiller are no strangers to this reality. And the actress recently opened up about her separation and reconciliation with her celebrity husband, proving that love really is sweeter the second time around.

The pair got engaged after knowing each other for only 6 months, and they were married within a year. In 2002, they had their daughter Ella. However, they started to grow apart and eventually decided to separate in 2017 after 17 years of marriage.

The Brady Bunch Movie actress shared that they did not want to discuss their decision to separate publicly or take it lightly. They were at an impasse in their relationship and needed to figure out what was best for them at that chapter in their lives.

During their time apart, they both had the opportunity to grow and better understand who they were as individuals. The couple needed time to figure things out. “I think we have these growth spurts, even as adults,” the actress said.

After announcing their separation in May 2017, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor remained dedicated to maintaining a strong “family unit,” frequently spending time with their children. In 2018, they were spotted at several public outings together.

In February 2022, Stiller revealed in an interview that they were back together, and Taylor recently explained, during a TV appearance with Drew Barrymore, how that happened. The pair agreed to spend time together in their original house with their 2 teenagers. There, they had plenty of time to talk without any distractions. Their reconciliation happened “organically,” and they found their way back to each other.

Taylor expressed that she is grateful for their time apart because it allowed them both to grow individually. She also shared that their reconciliation has been a beautiful experience, and that they are now stronger as a couple.

Furthermore, the Meet the Parents actor admired his wife Christine Taylor’s new podcast, Hey Dude... The 90s Called!, that premiered in December 2022. The podcast focuses on the Nickelodeon series Hey Dude that Taylor starred in during the 1990s, and it features her co-star David Lascher as a co-host. Stiller shared that Taylor was not initially a big podcast fan but decided to start her own podcast about Hey Dude due to its dedicated fanbase.

Stiller appeared as a guest on Taylor’s podcast in January and acknowledged enjoying the experience. “It’s been really fun... I had a great time doing the episode,” Stiller reflected on his appearance. He added that both Taylor and Lascher are excellent hosts, especially for the show’s fans.

In the past, the couple has also collaborated professionally, having worked together on several movies, including Zoolander, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Tropic Thunder, and Zoolander 2.

Aww, this is a sweet story. I'm glad that they could work things out together and have another chance at their relationship. I enjoy both of these actors work immensely and I wish them continued success with their reunion and in their work.
